Carriker at Senior Bowl

I saw something on Sports Center with Mel Kipers top 5 DE's and Carriker wasn't on there I just laughed to myself because he will probably end up a 1st rounder after combines and Kiper will change him to like his 3rd DE to make it look like hes smart.

I also read somewhere where he was not only tearing it up at DE but was also very impressive when moved inside at DT for a few snaps.

When I watched the NFL Network today the coaches on the north squad seemed to be impressed with Carriker and said that if he continues to play at the level he has so far he may end up being a top 15-20 pick.

From ESPN.com

Huskers Moore and Carriker combined for 13 sacks and another 20 tackles behind the line this season. Occasionally they lined up next to each other, with Carriker playing the three-technique. More often they both played end.

"We just know how each other worked and had a lot of feel for each other," Moore said. "People ask if we're competitive. We're extremely competitive. We weren't trying to race the other one. It was something just understood. If one of us did something, the other would say, 'Now it's my turn.' It was a constant battle to see who could do the best. We never talked about it. I felt it. He did, too. We're naturally competitive."

Carriker recalls meeting Moore on their first day in Lincoln in the summer of 2002. "Big ol' hair and a big ol' smile," Carriker said, a smile of his own creasing his face. Five years later, they are wearing the red "N" on their white helmets for the last week. Barring 32-to-1 odds that one of these pairs will be drafted by the same team, these players are playing together for the last time, too.

Adam Carrikers practice report at the Senior Bowl: "Wednesday Practice Notes: Consistently stellar. Does all the little things rights. Today, for example, he was one of the few players who set up their pass rush moves with an effective initial club. The one area which could improve as this week continues is his overall ability to the get the quarterback, which he has shown an ability to do but is not a premiere pass rusher. Coach Gruden even pointed out Carriker as one of the most impressive on the field during yesterday's press conference

Coach Gruden shows up to spring practice commenting on our impressive Dlineman. Now he shows up at the senior bowl making specific comments about how impressive Adam Carriker is. Is this a sign of things to come? Could the Bucs draft Carriker at the #4 spot? He won't last until the second round.

I don't see the Bucs taking Carriker at four, when they could get an elite offensive player there like Thomas, or Calvin Johnson. However, they may be looking to trade up in to the latter parts of the first round to try to draft AC.

Defensively, Nebraska defensive end Adam Carriker continues to prove his is in a different tier of talent than his opposition and has beaten all comers handily. Carriker made a nifty play forcing a fumble in 11-on-11 drills that Utah cornerback Eric Weddle made an athletic play to recover. In drills, Carriker was loudly encouraged by North head coach Jon Gruden to really go after the simulated QB bag, Carriker responded by hitting the bag so hard that the QB's "arm" (actually just a pad) flew right off.

Coach Gruden in Wednesday's post-practice press conference, referring to Carriker:

He’s a great big man, very powerful guy. He’s got a chance to be a base defensive end in a 3-4 defense without question. We’re looking at him as an under tackle played as a six technique. Great motor, very powerful guy and pass rush. This guy’s going to be a very good player in this league, no question bout that.
