Catching up on Suh:
It seemed to be getting a little quiet on the Ndamukong Suh front, so maybe it's a good time to catch up on what's been happening with the former Nebraska defensive tackle and second overall pick by Detroit in the NFL draft. In the last few weeks, Suh has:
> Emerged, not surprisingly, as a No. 1 defensive tackle next to Corey Williams on the Lions' line during minicamp and organized team activities.
> Picked Brett Favre — during an interview on KFXX radio in his hometown of Portland, Ore. — when asked which NFL quarterback he would most like to sack. "Not to hurt him by any means, but it would mean quite a bit to hopefully sack a future Hall-of-Famer," Suh said.
> Said he expects Detroit to make the NFL playoffs, something the Lions haven't done since 1999. "I think we're all excited with what we have," Suh told the Detroit News. "What I saw from last year, even though we went 2-14, that we had a great offense, and the offense needs some help on the defensive side of the ball."
> Served as an honorary official for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 on June 13, along with Nicklas Lidstrom of the Detroit Red Wings. Also at Michigan International Speedway, Suh got to hang out with actors Adam Sandler and Kevin James.
> Threw out the ceremonial first pitch before a June 11 game at Comerica Park, and also judged a singing competition before the Tigers-Pirates game the same night.
> Perhaps made some possible progress in contract negotiations with Detroit. Lions President Tom Lewand told the Detroit News recently that he and Roosevelt Barnes, one of Suh's agents, sat down for lunch earlier this month and that Lewand is "very, very comfortable with where we're at."
