my main hope for the season is that NU will get to a BCS game.

CBSsports.com seems to think that will not happen.

as of now, they have OU in the fiesta bowl, as big 12 champs, and TU in the orange bowl, as big 12 runner-ups.

am i the only one a little surprised they do not have us as the runner-up. i mean i know it is possible for the runner up to be in the same division, but should not the runner up be the loser of the big 12 championship, unless the big 12 championship is completely mismatched (kind of like last year?)? thoughts?

edit: sorry forgot link

It goes by BCS rank, I believe.

thanks. i thought they had more discretion. i know that if NU does not win the big 12, it could be close between OU, TU, and NU, but i would think they would give the nod to the runner-up of the ccg if the rankings were close enough.

I hope texas goes undefeated until they play us this year, but i think they lose to TTU this week. just a feeling i have. I think we play OU in the big 12, and we win. We got alot to improve on, but one thing ive noticed with this team and with Bo. we get better and better as the year goes.

If they are picking Texas second it indicates they feel Texas will beat Nebraska and that we will have more than one loss in conference.

So far from what I have seen, we are not on par with either. Maybe by game time, but I sure would not want to play either this Saturday.

Lot of work be done to be competitive with those two, and I have my concerns over KState and Missouri.

I don't drink your Kool-Aid.

Nothing negative, just things as I see them.

We are one deminsional, fumble a lot, have trouble stopping some of the worst teams in the country.

Looking at things how they are, not how I would like them to be. We have a long way to go to get to where some on here think we are.

So what you're saying is that we're pretty much where we were this time last year. Which wasn't a terrible place to be.

Where I very much agree with you is in the area of mental mistakes. We really, really have to button those up. Eliminate the mental mistakes and we beat Iowa State and VA Tech last year. I don't want to see more losses because of our own blunders, but we've seen very little so far in 2010 to make us think we've eliminated those mistakes.

End the brain spasms and get back to a punishing O Line and the sky's the limit for this team. It's kinda scary, but it's true.

i just do not think you can judge how we have played to where we really are. first, BO coaches teams up, we get better and we will be good enough to beat UW. second, as for the offense, i believe we could have laid down 55 points in each of the first two games, but that is not the point of those games. they are to find the mistakes and weaknesses so we can address them before we face more stout competition. third, as for the defense, do you think BO and Carl are scheming that much for these games or do you think they expect us to win on talent alone? did anyone think that we would be able to hold OU to 3 points, TU to 13, and be first in scoring defense at the beginning of last year? these games are to find out what is wrong with the team. you will see a much improved product on the field when NU shows up to seattle.

as for the fumbles, that is just mental. the players need to realize that it is better to go down with the ball than try to make a play at the risk of losing the ball.

I never said it was not possible. I said it is why we are picked third by CBS.Sports.

But there is a lot of work to be done.

I remember a Iowa State game last year, a TTU game and being very very very lucky against a very injured Oklahoma team. Those are reality. We can not afford those types of games this year for any reason, to get where we want to be.

It appears we have a lot of the same problems we had last year. Until those problems are not seen on a regular basis, there is reason for concern, facing any descent BCS team.

i just think it is hard to judge a team when they make their mistakes after getting up 20+ points. that is all.

No so much worried as the fumbles as I am of the stupid "drive killer" penalties!! Everyone is right though, both are mental mistakes would hopefully be straightened out this week or for at least start of Big 12 play.

oh geeze. Two games, and our season is already over? You do know that we haven't unveiled our entire playbook.

Do you feel we could handle Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma this weekend? And if so what gives you that feeling, other than mass doses of Kool Aid.

That is where some are saying we are. I just do not see it. Never said the season was over, just a lot of work to get to the level some are at already.

Yea Texas and Florida might as well through the towel in already too. Those teams havent looked as good as the huskers have in their first 2 games, despite how gloomy everything seems to be on here.

at least we arent Virginia Tech they have a grocery list full of issues.

I think we are about the same place we were last year at this point. We will knock the crap out of Washington and SDSU. Then if we get past the October snuff we have been in the last few years by beating KSU and Texas, the sky is the limit after that.
