Coaches not on sidelines

HuskerNAB

Walk-on
Which Husker coaches are upstairs in the box each game? Do you think they are effective in recognizing and adapting during the game?

I know beck is upstairs, not sure who is up there for D. The one thing that has probably frustrated me the most this year is that we havent seemed to show the ability to adjust as game is going until halftime.

Are there many (any) head coaches who are in the booth? Seems like Bo could better call the defense from there and also avoid on-camera melt-downs.

Perhaps not ideal but, Bo is making the defensive calls.

I guess my main question is still who from the defensive side acts as our eyes in the sky? Are they effective, or are they contributing to the lack of adjustments and defensive call confusion?

I would just call for the linemen to pass-block for more than half a second......no sarcasm intended.

Very good question! I'm not saying they aren't effective or making the wrong calls. We just lack effective personnel at key positions. Thats not saying the players aren't trying either. They are giving all they have.

Paterno was after he broke his leg. He didn't even go down to the locker room at half time. He's the only one I've heard of, and of course many think in his later years he wasn't that active in the actual coaching.

I do remember one interim coach that took over for a bowl game, He had been up in the box all year as OC or DC and decided to stay up there for the bowl game rather than change things up even more.

When Osborne took over from Devaney I can remember one writer saying that the biggest change might be not having Osborne up in the box able to call plays from that vantage.
