College Football Live: MSU more balanced than NU; will win.

I don't get this analysis.

MSU (yards/tds): 1756/12 pass, 966/10 rush, 2722 total

NU (yds/tds): 1202/7 pass, 1827/23 rush, 3029 total

So about 2/3 of MSU's (65%) offense comes from passing, about 2/3 (60%) of ours comes from rushing, but they're more balanced?

I didn't watch this (it's an ESPN product, right?) but if I had to wager, I'd guess they were talking about the fact that MSU is better than we are on both sides of the ball. Our offenses are similar, but their defense is way better than ours.

Their superior defense was mentioned as part of the conversation, but this comment was specifically referring to MSU's offensive attack as more balanced after specifically referencing our "one dimensional" offense. Yeah, I know it's ESPN & all, but come on, at least look at the numbers before making dumb proclamations like this.

I wouldn't get too worked up over it. They have 24 hours to fill on four or five channels. They're going to make bad points from time to time.

And there are also times they make "mistakes" on purpose just to create controversy so people will talk about it. This could be one of those times, too.

Not saying the OP did this, but I love when people are so flabbergasted that analysts pick against us. What are we like 1-20 against top 20 teams. I would pick against us every time.

33-17 MSU wins. Hope I'm wrong.

Nah, not flabbergasted or worked up. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to think that MSU might win the game, and that's a fair pick (I don't agree with it, but it's reasonable). I just thought that claiming one offense is more balanced than the other is a poor argument to justify a pick.

Yeah, their article giving MSU props for being more "balanced" offensively is total failure. Just par for those guys though. We'll win this game by running the ball.

GBR!!

run the ball......stop the run......win the game.

Yeah, i know. It wasn't directed at you. I have just heard a lot of angry people about everybody picking MSU.

Just so you know, I meant "worked up" in the metaphorical sense. Not that you were actually upset about this.

Yards are not a comparable stat to evaluate how balanced a team is. Total yard are a worthless stat. Looking at rushing attempts and passing attempts, Michigan state has rushed 258 times and thrown it 226 times. Nebraska has rushed 332 times and thrown it 155 times. Now look at that and figure out who is more balanced.

The only thing I'm angry about is that this team, given the situation, compels me to pick MSU.

For me this game come down to who is more poised, and who will minimize mistakes.

I just can't pick Nebraska.

I'm not going to give a prediction this week. But i will say the game will be close. It may even be a comeback win if the Huskers are down. Look for a repeat of the Ohio State game. question is, will we come out the victors this time?
