bennychico....im currently a freshman in college and looking to go into the marketing field with a hope of getting into the sports industry... what do you do? should i just start looking elsewhere now?

The marketing world is just a very very popular field to get into. You'll have a lot of people to contend with...so find a special niche in the marketing world that isn't as popular to help you stand out in the crowd. Just beware that, like in this last recession, companies are more likely to cut marketing people than they are engineers/product developers/accountants/etc. Here in Kansas City we could definitely feel the trickle down of industry budget cutbacks.
I don't want to scare you into changing majors, just realize that marketing=creativity. So how much work you put into developing your creative side will determine how far you succeed.
