BOULDER, Colo.Colorado quarterback Tyler Hansen is out for the forseeable future after he was diagnosed with a ruptured spleen Sunday, the Denver Post reported.
Hansen left Saturday's 27-24 loss to Texas Tech and was admitted to Boulder Community Hospital, where he is expected to remain for "a couple more days." Hansen is ruled out for the remainder of the season, but may be available for a bowl game if Colorado (3-4, 0-3 Big 12) can win three more games and qualify.

The Buffaloes play at Oklahoma this week.

Hansen was injured when he took a shot to his torso on an option play in Saturday's loss. The injury came with 5:50 remaining in the second quarter, after he had pitched the ball to tailback Rodney Stewart.

Hansen was initally diagonsed with bruised ribs and X-rays were negative.

Senior Cody Hawkins, coach Dan Hawkins' son, will start Saturday's game in Norman.

After the loss to Tech, before he knew he'd be the starter, Hawkins said: "You have a team like Oklahoma ... they have great athletes and they execute each and every week. We know we have the athletes; we just have to work on the execution because we know we can compete with anybody in the country."

That's really too bad, all the more so because he should have been starting this whole time. He made Colorado a headache to defend. If he doesn't have some miracle recovery and we only have to face Hawkins Jr., we're going to waltz through these guys.

Ouch, well this probably secures even more the situation on them getting a new coach... if that was even possible
