Colorado Rockies

I should have posted this a long time ago (like before they dropped the last 2 to the Mets and have relinquished the sole lead in the NL Wild Card) but the Rockies have really turned it on since Jim Tracey has taken over. They have a legitimate chance to win the wild card ( I think the Dodgers will be almopst impossible to catch in the West) and as long as they don't just fold here through the second half they will really turn heads. Good young talent and well improved pitching. As long as they don't just trade off all their good players in the off season this team could be in the running for the division next year! Thoughts????

I like what Tracy has done with this team. He has them playing great baseball. They are young but improve each game. Now if they can just remember to bring the offense on the road with them. Who loads the bases twice in a game and can't even get a hit. Last nights game was frustrating at best. The home plate umpire sucked too. Hopefully today they can turn it around and take the last 2 games to split the series. I believe they will be in the Wild Card race to the end. No one is going to catch the Dogers unless they have a complete melt down. Go Rockies!

How about that walk off Grand Slam last night, it kind of really makes you believe that they are on a mission once again.

I fell asleep and missed the Grand Slam. Couldn't believe it when I saw the highlights on the news this morning. Spilly comes through for the team. What a freaking game that was last night.

Now comes the Dodgers. Go Rockies! :hellloooo :hellloooo :hellloooo

This is a big series that starts tonight against the Dodgers. In fact, the next two series are big. 3 game set with the Dodgers, then off to San Francisco to face the Giants again, this time at their park. Hopefully the Rockies can win both series and put themselves in a good spot. Currently they trail the Dodgers by 3 games in the Division, and lead the Wild Card by 4 games. Rockies are a bit beat up with Gonzalez having the "freak" accident, Aaron Cook is on the DL, and Dexter Fowler fouling that ball off of his knee last night. Still, I think the Rockies have enough of a versatile team that they can win both series, if they bring their bats to the ball park. They have not hit well against the Dodgers this season, but I think that changes this week. Just my .02

Totally agree. The Dodgers have slipped a bit these past few weeks which makes me very hopeful for this 3 game series. That is all I am looking at. One series at a time for me as I drink the purple Koolaid all day long. I'm excited for this team. I think at the very minimum, the Wild Card is theirs to lose.

We shall see.

Just heard on 9NEWS that the Rockies have signed Jason Giambi (sp) to a 1 year minor league deal and he is in the Springs right now...will be up with the team when the rosters expand on Sept 1....

not sure if this is a good thing or not. I do not know a lot about Jason but I would hate to have the team/locker room chemestry ruined right now.

Apparently Jim Tracy has said the Jason Giambi is a good teammate. Tracy and Giambi have both been around the league for a long time. Giambi has a lot of playoff experience and knows what it will take to win some games down the road. Also, he gives them a big bat from the left side coming off the bench late in games. Don't know if this all true, but I do trust Jim Tracy's judgment. Hopefully it all works out for the best.

I watched Tracy expand his roster is Sept., overthink, and run his team out of the race for five years with LA. Good luck.

That was a great game! Only 2 back now. Fogg goes tonight which makes me a bit nervous but the boys are playing great. How about E.Y. jr! Good to see the kid get his first base hit. I think he will be a good one for the Rockies in the years to come...if the stupid management does not trade him.

Anyways...great hit by Tulo for the win!

Go Rockies!!!

That would be 3.

By the way, how is there a Eric Young jr.? Did Eric Young have a kid when he was 14 or am I just 112 years old?

Jr. implies a son...E.Y. Jr is Eric Young's son. What am i missing? E.Y. Sr played for the Rockies a few years ago. whatever. Rockies will get them this afternoon.

Or not.

And I was trying to capture the humor that either: a) I am old for remembering EY. or B), Eric Young was a baby having a baby.

Christ, I saw Eric Young back in 93 when he was playing with the Tigers, and at the time, hit the longest home run at Camden Yards....
