Comparing Nebraska's most colorful coaches of late

In accordance with Accountability's post (great hustle btw) I find solace in what Miles said after the loss today, and on the Rome show yesterday.
i wouldnt call it a hustle. I clearly disclaimed that while quoting you, it was not directed at you. I just used your statement to show that this thread was at place of comparing Tim's behavior to Bo's. And factually, Tim has done two things in a 5 day span that Bo has been largely ridiculed for. Not that Bo hasnt done more to deserve it, but that Tim maybe not be quite the goody, nerdy, fun little angel we're propping up to be. I just found it interesting and wanted to share my thoughts. He cussed in a presser at a reporter, and blew up at officials to the point of being held back by assistants and players. Warranted or not, he did those things, which are usually related to something Bo would do.

As far as Knapp's comments. I agree. As I've said, god willing if we win against Baylor friday, god help Miles and this team going into next year. The expectations are already exploding. If they get a w or two to close out this year, it's gonna be insane. Now the pressure's on. Hell, the pressure was on on friday. You could see it when Ohio St was coming back. All a sudden it wasnt so much fun anymore.

If you're referring to the way he used his naughty word when asked about the "Nebrasketball curse", I would say one needs to consider the context of how either coach has cursed in a press conference.

And obviously Miles isn't the nerd god that is or was being portrayed, and yes expectations are now officially sky-high even without a win Friday for basketball standards. But he's still saying the right things.

The difference is a lot of revered coaches do what Miles did on the court. Bo, even with the Kelly and Saban comparisons, his just look worse. And they're more frequent, regardless of the fallacy that some people on this board are trying to perpetuate that it's a media creation. (Not saying you do that)

One referred to a non-call by an official as "chicken sh#t"

One referred to baggage and history of the program as "bullsh#t"

They're really not all that different to me - both were honest and candid, but one was upset and the other was upset but smiling. Miles is just a zen master at putting a positive spin on things.

Or maybe not idk

Yeah, Miles knows it's not about him, or the reporter. If you watched that presser, you'd know how differently he did it compared with Bo's griping after a loss about a chickens-- call. Miles took the question as an opportunity to emphatically define his program. He knew the reporter was fishing with the question too, and finished it the Smiles way with a laugh and a "Finally gave you what you wanted, didn't I?" It's a natural question, which he knows, and the Wisconsin victory was a natural time to come out with a strong official response. (I'm pretty sure he was asked similar questions previously, but you don't get anywhere with too much talk before the walk.)

All coaches get heated. Nevertheless some remain positive ambassadors for their programs, and some don't. That tends to be, in my opinion, partly a natural quality and partly a function of the effort they devote to that area of the job. Bo, in his first six years, had a 'couldn't care less' attitude. Which is likable, except you'd better win...and actually follow through on the not caring part, as opposed to getting worked up over what media members write or say constantly.

Zoogies beat me to it.

And your "chickensh#t" reference was also Bo firing every last bullet he thought he had and aiming for a buyout. Miles was/is on the cusp of a salary bonus for achievement.

Context.

.....so it looks like about 3 people on the planet still care about the Iowa post game press conference......
Actually we care more about being embarrassed on national television 4 out of 5 times. The pouty, petty press conference in usually the topper. But deflect, build straw men, do whatever you need to let myopia grow.

How many times do you have to publicly call your woman a whore before she comes around to your point of view?
