Comparing the numbers

They got their best O lineman back from suspension - before this week the line was cobbled together. People not playing their natural positions
As concerning as the numbers have become, this is a piece of the puzzle that a lot of people overlook. Adams isn't some run of the mill space eater, he is right behind or tied with Brewster as their best Olineman. ANd Brewster is one of the best in the country.

I predict this thread will get about 1/2 the discussion of a typical QB thread.
Silly knapplc. Every thread is a QB thread. You just have to see the potential...

Maybe if our stupid head offense and its streaky QB didn't rely on big plays so much, our defense wouldn't get so tired!

Uugh.....it's not pretty.

3 weeks Bo....get "something" figured out.

GBR!!
Why are you overlooking Minnesota? It's that type of attitude that gets us in trouble. With our defense, anything is possible (cue KG).
Here we go again, because we can. We are not playing Minnesota, we are just posters on a message board. We can overlook any body we want to. These comments always crack me up. All that matters is that Bo, the rest of the coaches and the players don't overlook them. Honestly, Minnesota doesn't deserve our concern, they really do SUCK!
We can overlook Minnesota because frankly there are not very good. The only way Nebraska loses if they repeatly shoot them selves in the foot and even then it would take small miracle for them to beat us.
Yeah if we lose to them it would be worse then the Iowa State game in 08. The only thing they have going for them is that they have a mobile QB and it seems like QB's with any mobility give us fits.

SJB looks like he could be a serious difference maker opposite Dennard,he's big enough that hopfully he can jam receivers at the line. That should help immensly. But I still have two major concerns/questions.

We still tackle SO poorly, especially out in space. How many times are we actually in pretty good position only to miss that one key tackle which then leads to a solid gain for the offense. That really does go back to Bo saying we have to execute. It's just such a departure from our normal of solid tackling. What's changed?

The second that still confuses me is why we still don't bring any extra pressure. I know everyone hates Millen, but he was making the point the MSU brought constant pressure and really disrupted Miller. And it has seemed like most of the time when we do come after the QB, good things happen for us. I know it really brings the big play into play if you miss him, but right now they're getting plenty of those anyway.
I think the lacking of pressure can be traced to one or two reasons. First, the secondary is extremely young and our D-Line was projected to be good enough to generate pressure on their own. So, blanket the coverage [give the younger guys more security] and hope the D Line generates pressure. Now that [the D Line getting pressure hasn't happened] and the secondary maybe starting to get better in coverage. So maybe Bo and Carl throw more pressure from the LB to help our D Line and secondary.

The problem with this is that it implies the linebackers are dropping into coverage. Have you watched Fisher and Compton move? Those guys are better off trying to run towards the quarterback and miss a tackle.

Getting a single offensive lineman back helps immensely, no doubt. However, I struggle to believe it helps to the tune of 208 more rushing yards and 8 fewer sacks... but that's just me.

Bad things have mostly happened to us when we blitz. Watch the game again and you'll see most of Miller's long runs came when we blitzed. The problem with sending pressure is that we're not getting there. Sending pressure and not getting there is a recipe for disaster.

when are we going to wake up and realize rk3 deserves a chance?

(now let's see how long this thread lasts)

I know thats true, I said the same thing in the last part of my statement. We are really slow getting back there when we do bring pressure, but I still believe in an attacking defense. I think you'll make more good things happen than will get hurt. But you're correct, when you do bring the pressure, someone has to at least get there in time to disrupt the QB. Millen also commented that when MSU brought pressure, they penned Miller in the pocket which is something we don't do at all, we do leave big running lanes.
