The thing that stuck out most to me last year was when we had it 3rd and 2 or 3 to go only to get a false start backing us into 3rd and long. There was one game (can't remember which one) where the OL had three penalties in a friggin row. The OL should have imposed their will on South Dakota State, but in reality SDSU imposed their will on our OL. If we're to believe Beck is this offensive genious and Watson was holding him back, what makes any of us believe that Cotton won't hold back the two additions to the OL staff? Clownahan was supposed to be this OL stud coach, but in reality the OL was typically the poorest unit on that side of the ball. I haven't seen much/any improvement since Bo has been here with Cotton. Milt used to build OL. Today, we just try to recruit them and hope everything turns out okay. In a perfect World, Cotton will listen to Stai. However, I'll have to see this to believe it.

I'm not sure, but I still remember the 3rd and goal from the 40 against V. Tech when we had two false starts, a holding, and a clipping. We went from a possible touchdown to a 50 yard field goal.

 
You know, correct me if im wrong or you don't agree. But i was thinking last night that maybe one of the reasons we have a difficult time blocking on the OL is because of the wider splits in certain situations. I mean has anyone else noticed that when we use wider splits that blocking is sh**ty and when we use tighter spilts the blocking is superbly better?

See the Big XII championship game if you want a prime example of them not doing their job. Everyone wanted to blame Taylor for that performance and some of the blame might have been justified, but the O-line did terrible that night. Also, with Barney involved in the offensive line..........it takes any faith away that I have, he should've been gone with this last coaching change IMO.

Everyone wanted to blame Taylor for that performance and some of the blame might have been justified, but the O-line did terrible that night. With an added pair of eyes or two I think this is basically what is going on. Bo knows the importance on the line. I wouldn't envy any O-Line coach on it if it doesn't change this year. Not even just the blocking, the absolutely stupid horrible pre-snap penalties as well. It has been awful the past two seasons especially when the pressure is on or near either end zone. That simply cannot happen.

I'm hoping it was the different philosophies Watson was supposedly championing on offense over a few other coaches including Cotton as some rumors suggested it might be during the last couple off-seasons. Likewise though, I'll believe it when I see it.

Watson was the OC though. The line coach either needs to get with the program or get out of the way. I am hoping he does either one or the other this time.
