This is not a swipe at Rose because I'm glad he's here and I think he'll contribute significant snaps this year. Just an observation.
Both Davie and Rose were Class of 2011. According to 247, Rose was the #125 player overall in that class and the #9 cornerback - a mid-four-star. Davie was the #691 player overall and the #41 cornerback - a high-three-star.
Obviously it's one situation cherry-picked out of thousands. And there are myriad reasons why this one turned out all but tied albeit Davie having a slight edge - exposure during recruiting, level of competition, location, etc. But I personally think it's a microcosm how close players can be talent-wise but look quite different in the recruiting rankings. Not saying the rankings are meaningless. Just not the end all.
