Cotton Bowl victory

I have always looked at the NEXT win is the biggest win, no matter who you are playing if you want to be the best you have to win your NEXT game.

Agreed. A signature win is such only in hindsight. It depends on the level of sucess subsequently. For example, assume Huskers win - but then go 5-7 next year. Conversly, assume the Huskers win, then next year go 11-1 or 12-0. Then it becomes a signature win...
Uh well, If beating Auburn is a "signature" what would it be a signature of?

Not to rain on anyone's parade but are you suggesting that beating Auburn would be any more or less a "signature win" than beating Michigan in the Alamo bowl? We all thought NU had arrived in the big time after Alamo. Yet, here we sit 9 and 4, playing top 20 competition for only the fourth time. So, what did the Alamo win signify? I think AR is correct.

And, frankly, I am a little jaded and expect that, for Nebraksa, the "signature" win is the championship, either or both the Big 12 and MNC. What are Devaney's signature wins? Game of the century? How about Osborne? Of course he had several. Did Solich have any?

Whatever the win signifies, I remain (probably pathetically) devoted to Husker Football.

Go Big Red!
