Could Bama score double digits against Nebraska?

Our Defense deserves a TON of credit for the season they just had, but it is amazing that we beat a lot of teams that do not play "physical" football on offense, and now many think that we could beat the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS. Way toooo much Koolaid for some on this board.

Alabama would be the most diverse offense we would have faced. 2 great RB, great O-line, good QB, and very good WR..... ** Remember, the Texas game everyone loves.....Texas doesn't have much of a running threat to speak of...

I am the world's biggest Husker fan and love to be optimistic, but c'mon...... too think that this team is at the NC level right now is a bit over the top !!!!!

* Plus, Alabama's defense would create short fields for their offense, which in turn, would create MANY scoring opportunities.

Someday maybe, but not quite yet..

It hurts to say it......... Bama 27 NU 13 ................. I was taught though, sometimes the truth HURTS.

Iowa State came into our own backyard without their starting QB or RB and almost scored double digits on us. Why wouldn't Bama?

Just remember that the Nebraska defense that finished the season was a far cry from the defense that started the season. Texas was going to roll us, and we didn't stand a chance......remember? Well, that same Texas team almost beat Alabama with a freshman QB last night. As much as you may hate Texas, you have to acknowledge that McCoy would have done a better job than the freshman. It is foolish to think otherwise. Hell, it is likely that they could have even won, but we'll never know.

Alabama looked pedestrian to me. Their coaches must have done crack before the game, because their calls were atrocious. Pelini would call a far better game than what I saw from Saban. Alabama's big backs would get some yards, but their QB would get none (a reversal of our Texas outing). Would they beat us? Probably, but only because our offense sucks. Would they score 10+? Probably....but not much more. Can we beat them in 2010? You bet your sweet arse we can. They may be national champions, but they aren't anything special either.

they scored 9 on us...

oh and remember that team that beat us named Virginia Tech? Pretty sure they didn't run the spread and that was considered our best defensive performance to date. We would have won that game and held them under 200 yards had o'Hanlon not made a mistake would not have made at the end of the season.

I'm pretty confident that we could come up with some sort of scheme to hold them just like we did UT... but I think we could beat them barring costly turnovers...

Couldn't agree more. I was more impressed with what Texas did with a completely unexperienced bright eyed freshman quarterback than anything Alabama did.

So many people underestimating Nebraska ability to stop the run too. Give your defense some credit and even moreso your coaches some credit. I'd take on Alabama tomorrow and honestly I wouldn't be worried much at all from a defensive aspect. No need to comment about our still developing offense.

They'd have their runs but by no means would they run all over us then they'd be forced to pass just like everyone else. The only thing holding us back would be our still developing offense.

I was just about to make the same point miami01 did. For those saying we aren't geared to stop a more traditional, under center power running game, just look at Virginia Tech. Aside from the blown coverage by O'Hanlon at the end, we held them to 10 points. Ryan Williams averaged more rushing yards per game than Ingram did this season. We held Williams to 107 and VT as a team to 86. Also Taylor is twice the playmaker McElroy is, so I don't know why we couldn't do similarly against Bama.

Hence the word, almost. They came into our house with a backup QB and RB. Unfortunately, turnovers do have an outcome on games. Our D could probably/maybe contain Bama's offense. However, it's our offense I can see doing the damage with regards to how many points Bama would score.
