Could our football team beat our basketball team in basketball?

NUance

Assistant Coach
No way the football players could beat the NU basketballers at basketball. But I’ll bet they could give ‘em a run for their money. Especially in the paint.

Here are my starters:

C Brent Qvale 6-7 330

F Jared Crick 6-6 285

F Brandon Kinnie 6-3 220

G Latravis Washington 6-3 230

G Ron Kellogg 6-01 215

My very first thought after reading your headline was "Jared Crick at power forward."

:thumbs

I have a feeling you are missing a few skilled players. We often recruit players who excel in both sports.

Yeah, you could probably form a pretty decent basketball team just from the NU QBs or WRs. Or possibly even out of our DBs.

I would like to see this in a pick up game in the offseason. I think it would be pretty cool. Maybe they could do some sort of school sponsored event in the spring. My money would be on the football team.

PG T-Mart/Prince

SG Sean Fisher/Cody Green

F Steinkuhler/Crick

F Cotton/McNeil

C Hardrick/Robert Barry

Pierre Allen would be the best football player playing basketball, Sadler has talked about him playing for a couple years now.

Here's a highlight video from Pierre's senior year (he's #34), he has some GREAT range and was really athletic. Granted the bulk he's added would make it rough to play the way he did in high school, but i'm sure he'd still fit in quite nicely for Doc.

Was hoping someone would mention Allen as he excelled at basketball in high school. Qvale was also a good basketball player.

It works both ways. I'm pretty sure Eric Strickland would have been a starter on the football team had he taken the football scholly rather than the basketball scholly.

I'll just throw out a few names of football players I know to be very good basketball players based on stories from some of my friends.

Brandon Kinnie - was even asked by Sadler to play BBall

Dejon Gomes

Alfonzo Dennard

Suh - If you count him, I heard he threw it down once in a game

Rex Burkhead

Pierre Allen

And I always saw the Osbournes and Andrew Green out playing - I don't know if their worth a damn though
