Garth Brooks had a special word for about 100 kids sitting on the indoor football field at the Speedway Village sports complex Saturday.
“They’re teaching you words like courage, discipline and respect,” Brooks told the kids. “I’m going to throw one more on you and this is the big one. It’s love.
“It’s not about your girlfriend or your boyfriend, it’s about loving one another, loving your teammates. You see those coaches back there? They’re going to tell you things you remember for the rest of your life.”
The kids were attending Teammates ProCamp, put on by the Garth Brooks Teammates for Kids Foundation and ProCamps in each city in which Brooks’ music tour stops.
After the campers participated in a relay race in which the final runners had to tag Brooks and run back across the field, the country singer joined former Husker Chris Kelsay and former UNO player Chris Bober, both of whom played in the NFL, to talk about the camp.
