Crowd

Just as I suspected... we had that many people there yet only half of them made any damn noise. The only time it really ever got loud was when they were on their goaline and Paul Thompson threw that INT. The side of the field with the band/ where the players entered was the most disappointing. I sat right on the 50 and I realize the Sooners fans were mostly in one of those corners but still that side was so damn quiet it seemed like. The other side had the place rocking, banging the walls it sounded like a damn thunderstorm in there. I don't know just seems like a big disappointment that some people would drive down there and then not even be fired up because of a early game turnover. I don't think it was probably the people like the ones on this board I'm sure most of you did a great job but some people I just don't understand. The one time we got loud as a whole crowd we scored. Just kind of a disappointment, I was hoping we would have had a bigger impact. :rant

Theres a link below to a album of the pictures I took!

Yeah I was sitting on the NU side on the 50 yard line in the upper deck and it was pretty loud up there at times...........people banging on their seats and such, but the crowd was very disappointing considering we had more than 3/4 of the stadium going for NU..............

I'll tell you what disappointed me.......

When there was like 5 or 6 minutes left in the game, I saw a bunch of empty seats on the Husker sideline. I dont know if there were a bunch empty for the whole game or not, I didnt really notice. But it disgusts me when our fans leave early.

I left with about 4 1/2 minutes left in the game only because I paid 60.00 for a damn cab to get to the game and I wasn't about to pay for it again!!!! I talked to some cops that told me some buses would be on the south side of the stadium to pick people up to take them back to the Marriott, but they fill up fast so you have to get there early........sorry I had to!!!! I wasn't about to pay more for transportation than I did my tickets!!!!

Why you Son of a B!!! J/K Under those circumstances I'll have to let you off. That is kinda BS. But when people leave because they think "its over", thats what really bugs me. Kinda like at the aTm game.

You are right huskerguy...the crowd was not a factor at all which is disappointing. Like you said, the side with the band did nothing. I was in the corner of the end zone opposite of band and we were pretty loud over there, but if you looked elsewhere it was only our section that ever even had our hands in the air or anything...I expect a lot more from us...we were a non factor and should have used the "home" crowd to our advantage.

I was at the game (section 217, right above the OU Band). We were screaming just as much as anybody else. I couldn't hear anything for much of the game. That side of the field had just as many OU fans as Nebraska fans (50/50). If their band wasn't banging on those damn drums then you would have barely heard them. They were louder at the end of the game because there were so many empty seats on the other side of the field. I thought we were a big factor, contrary to most of your beliefs. They had exactly 1 big play and one long drive. For some reason everybody thinks they outplayed us because we weren't noisy. I beg to differ. They didn't execute very well at all.

Well first of all its disapointing that i live in a house thats divided im a husker fan and my wife and her family are from ou country( WHICH SUCKS)!!!!! well anyways her parents went to the game and my mother and her other half went to the game also. So hear from her parents that oh those husker fans were talking it up say that we brought 60,000 plus while we only brought about 20,000 and her parents said that they could ou fans over our fans now thats upsetting. Then i hear from my mother that husker fans were leaving at the end of the 3rd and that some of them werent even chearing most of the game. all i know is then that those arent the husker fans that i know

I wasn't at the game, but just listening to the crowd noise on the t.v., it was seemed that the OU crowd made more noise.

They weren't near as loud as we were. Taylor and the Huskers had absolutely no problem hearing (except for the drums beating from the band) Is there a rule about how long a band can play while the opposing team is getting plays? Can they go until the opposing team breaks the huddle? Anyway, Thompson and his boys didn't execute at all well (again except that one long drive) and I believe it was in part because we WERE loud. Of course it isn't going to be as loud as Memorial stadium. I don't know where they (ABC) put the microphones but if it was on the OU sideline then I can see where you might have the impression OU fans were loud. But it wasn't the case. To assign blame to our Nebraska crowd and to be dissappointed in how we cheered is unfair. We were definately pumped. Deflating any enthusiasm we had were the turnovers and inefficiency of the offense when we got to around the 30 yard line everytime.

And just one more small comment. The OU fans were very impressed (the ones I talked to at the game and at the Marriot) with our team. They were wondering why we threw the ball so much and thought our D-line was unbelievably good. They were very relieved Thompson had a very good game for the most part. Also they were relieved that our cornerbacks and safeties were subpar.
