CU to the Mountain West?

What do some of my fellow posters think of this idea? Bring in Arkansas to the north to replace them. Send Missouri to the south and bring Oklahoma to the north.

NORTH:

Nebraska

Arkansas

Oklahoma

Kansas

KSU

ISU

South:

A&M

Texas

Missouri

TT

OK STATE

Baylor

Just an idea.

Wow, I never thought about Arkansas coming into the Big 12.

I've considered considered kicking Texas into the SEC . . .

But I think if we were going to replace anyone in the Big 12, it would be to replace either Baylor or Colorado with TCU.

TCU's program has certainly improved and they would be more competitve than Baylor but I wonder about the long term viability of the TCU program and whether they could compete financially with the rest of the Big 12 schools. Baylor has that problem right now competing financially and I think the conference might be trading one low funded program for another that in the long term would have trouble. We will see just how far TCU has come as a program in the second game of the year next season when they play Texas. This year, although they won, they weren't that impressive at Baylor in the opening game of the season and while they have had good records in the past couple of years and beat Oklahoma last season they play weaker competition than they would in the Big 12 week in and week out.

I look forward to playing Colorado every year. Even though they are the lowest of the low, it makes it better when we beat the crap out of them like we did yesterday. :bonez :bonez

although I hate CU, they really aren't a team I'd like to see leave. There are other schools with a more mediocre history than CU. I think we need to keep our rivals around. They used to be pretty decent and have given us a run for our money before. They're just having a terrible year this year.

I think we need to say goodbye to Baylor though. And maybe ISU. In fact, maybe Baylor needs to step down to I-AA?? Don't know how the division moves go about.

Texas I'd like to see in the SEC just because I think they could probably compete pretty well. Good school with a program I respect. At the same time, we'd need to replace them with a strong team.

We need to make our conference look good. And to do that we need strong teams who can compete against top 10 teams and win.

Baylor would never drop down. Besides there are worse programs in I-A in Texas alone not to mention elsewhere, SMU, Rice, North Texas, UTEP most years just to name a few. With that said UTEP, SMU and Rice have made good progress but still lack the fan support that even Baylor has. Back to the point since the formation of the conference Nebraska, Colorado and K-State for a few years dominated the North, Texas and Oklahoma and A&M for one year dominated the South, those are the power teams of the conference and they shouldn't go anywhere. The conference gets stronger because of the big money programs that have a big fan base. You could never find any school that could replace Texas and make the conference stronger, just like you could never find a replacement for Nebraska that would make the conference stronger. Yes there are other high profile big money programs, but they wouldn't leave the conferences they are in and I don't think Notre Dame will ever join a conference because they have no incentive and they are the only team out there that could improve any conference.

I would agree with taking ISU out of the Big 12 because they don't seem to have the money to compete with the other teams in the Big 12......

I am happy with the conference the way it is. I agree that there are worse programs out there then CU. They are rebuilding right now and will be competetive again down the road. If anyone needs to go, it should be Baylor although I believe they are investing more money in their program. They had a decent year going until their QB got hurt. Programs will always have ups and downs. Moving programs in and out of the Big 12 is like chasing hot stocks in the stock market....it makes no sense. Invest for the long term!! Oh one more thing......I hate CU fans with a passion and in no way should be considered defending them with this post!!
