Current Huskers Headed to the NFL

Nobody thinks that Westerkamp could end up on an NFL roster?
I think he has what it takes to make it in the NFL but we'll have to wait and see. DPE can make it as a specialist, Jano won't make it. I see both Collins and VV as being busts.

Then again Jason Ankrah is on an NFL roster (smh) so anything is possible. The NFL certainly isn't the league it used to be but that's a whole other can of worms.

I think Jano is almost a lock to play in the NFL. He won't get drafted, but somebody is going to snatch him up for cheap and get a bargain. He'll be a stalwart special team guy, and teams who use a fullback will love him.

Gerry looks like he's gotten smaller this year (somehow) and regressed. But he's still got NFL caliber speed for a safety. Add a few pounds and I think he's got a shot.

I think Westerkamp will play also, but really needs to be in the right system, namely one with a QB who finds those 2nd and 3rd options. Sure its cliche to compare him to to Welker and Eddleman, but I think he's in that same mold. He seems to be pretty tough too.

And to think the 95 NC team actually ended up having 27 players go to the NFL. (we can't even get 27 defensive players to suit up for road games)

We'll be lucky to get 5 off of this team. Yep, we're talented!! <sarcasm>

(And yes there is a middle ground between the 95 team and the 15 team. 10-15 players on a team with NFL talent would be good.

I'm going to reserve judgement on Gerry for another season or until he gets into NFL, if he does. I think he is athletic, smart, and shows flashes of next level player, but his environment (scheme) isn't helping and is overexposing him.

I know he squared a guy up and forced a fumble against Minnesota, but I've also seen him fly in and whiff more than a couple times too.

Which current Huskers will be drafted, and which Huskers wil make an NFL roster? Below are my locks to be drafted in injuries do not come into play:

Collins

VV

Gerry

Jano

Huskers destined to play in the NFL who may not get drafted

DPE - may not get drafted because he is 5'9"

Foltz - punters rarely get drafted, but he has Ray Guy skills

TA - TA has size, speed & toughness, he won't be an NFL QB, but like Frost, if he is willing to change positions, he can make an NFL roster
If he can be as dynamic as he was before the injury somebody will draft him in the first 4 rounds
I hope so. I remember TO saying he didn't offer Barry Sanders because he was only 5'8". It seems like the NFL is fascinated with size.
Except the Patriots, they have such a small size WR core, the small utility player has become more and more popular.

Sam Foltz is a lock, might not be drafted but he will have a nfl career. underclassmen, basicly a wait and see. the people who know, say that lewis is playing out of position. it sounds like of he goes, it will be as a guard. those are the only 2 from this years class. preseason i thought collins might go early. nice kid, good player but needs another year!
