It's still an amazing assault, all these years ago.

We lost 6,603 KIA in the Normandy landings on June 6th, 1944. To put that in perspective, we've lost 5,956 KIA in Iraq and Afghanistan combined in a little under ten years of fighting.

I hope they play the movie The Longest Day tonight. One of the best war movies ever.

My vote would be Saving Private Ryan
Same...

I remember my Grandfather telling me to go see it. I asked him if he was going to, he simply said, "don't need to".
Can't say I disagree. Saving Private Ryan is a great movie as well. The beach battle scene stresses me out to the max every time I see it.

 
A shout out to the airborne as well!

Band of Brothers is one of the best television series I think I've ever watched.
