Dan Beebe Spews Derp on Dr. Tom

Did anyone ever think that maybe, just maybe, there might be the slightest chance that he isn't trying to slap us in the face, create gossip or talk smack, but is just offering his own honest opinion on why we left, without projecting feelings of right or wrong onto it?

All of the insinuating seems to be coming from the people that read the piece rather than from Beebe himself.
I'm w/ ya. I think there is a lot more truth to the Osborne rumors than people are willing to believe. It's just to prevelant throughout the media (outside of Nebraska). It's pretty much all you hear. There was an article a month or two ago very similar to this quoting unnamed officials/ADs of other schools - talking about how Osborne wasn't viewed as positively as he may be in Nebraska.
You mean the Fox Sports Southwest article? The one that had no byline attached to it written by "Staff." The one that was full of suppositions the author could not possibly have sources for? If you can't see the subtext of that article and the intentions behind it, you should really read it again before you assign it any credibility whatsoever.

dude, both of the guys that you are quoting have really been the two people that like to take the opposite stance of everyone else just because they can lately. pretty much every post by them lately has been about how NU isnt innocent about one thing or another....

Quoting unnamed officials/AD, hmmm, well, thats a very tight reputable source, lol.

Seriously, most of this talk about Dr. Tom is the national media trying to make the guy look like an a$$. Its what they do, they want to make the good guys look not so good, and break them down.

Beebe's words would hold more water if Dr. Tom was the one actually calling the shots, but he wasn't. It was a decision made by the board of regents, which would have been made even if Dr. Tom was not in favor of it.

What we have to understand is that the truth is somewhere in the middle. Was TO saintly and perfect in his reasoning, logic and desires throughout the entirety of the Big XII and his time so far as AD? Probably not. Was he holding a middle school grudge and a bitter and pompous old man throwing a fit because he didn't get his way? Probably not either.

The man isn't the perfect savior that can do no wrong like we all think he is, but he's also not the villain that the media is saying he is (or maybe just what we interpret the media as saying).

The radio interview is where the disdain shines through for Osborne, IMO. Truth or not, there's a professional way to approach things, and Beebe is choosing to be a nincompoop. Granted, he's with the Brown Clown Chip Brown on an Austin radio station, so perhaps some of that was pandering to his Bevo overlords...but as someone else said, he shouldn't be saying anything negative, factual or otherwise, about an AD that was is still in his conference.

Look at it this way--would we expect Larry Scott or Jim Delaney to come out and say on an Eugene/LA or Columbus/Ann Arbor radio station that X AD is holding a grudge about Y? Or that X AD wasn't accepted by his peers or was a fish out of water when taking over the job?

No, we wouldn't. Hell, the Ohio State and USC ADs deserve all sorts of condemnation, but you're not going to hear one bad word from either conference commissioner about either school--that's because Scott and Delaney, among others, bring a modicum of class and integrity to their position.

You all are concentrating on the wrong part. This is the piece that I don't understand...

After doing that interview, I asked him to expound on the comments, which were more frank than anything I'd heard him say about Nebraska since I took over this blog back in 1981.
This David Ubben was WAY ahead of his time back in 1981. Blogging in the early 80's? Did you have "followers" too? I bet Ubben was #winning all over the place. I want to know what the world will be like in 2041 Ubben! What stocks should I buy? Will we have flying cars by then? Tell me everything!
I can't speak for the rest of the Huskerboard members but my concentration always gets lost on your posts chris... chuckleshuffle (damn animated gifs...)
