Assessing the talent: A powerhouse in the weight room(bench 245/squat 505) with a legit 4.73/40. Last season he recorded 78 tackles and one interception.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 5% I think this kid will continue to flip flop leaders until he starts making visits. Being from Missouri and already getting a commitment from Freeman may help. Cosgrove is recruiting him.

If we get this kid, that would mean we steal the top two Mizzou recruits in that state ..not to mention Chris Brooks from last year.

cause we damn sure need some, don't you think? and i have not heard of any big time prospects being recruited for OL........

So you would switch Clayborn, just for the sake of the offensive line? He would have to pack on anywhere from 35pds-50pds of weight just to play the line at his small 6'3 frame. You do understand that not everyone has the body type to carry that type of weight, correct?

The recruiting process is a long haul. Feburary is a long time away and we will get our share of prospects. Don't fret and jump off the bridge as you are already doing.

well, it would not be inconceivable for him to gain 30 lbs., but as i said i see no big push to get O linemen, some of the best are already comitted and with guys like Thomas playing up front we will continually get our a$$ kicked.....it is a proven fact you have to have quicker O linemen to make the WCO work and our big fat-a$$ 300 lb. plus guys ain't gettin the job done.......that is painfully obvious by now

Well you do understand putting that much weight on a lineman will make him considerably slower, correct?

Clayborn isn't exactly ripped, (although Eric believes he is a brute for benching 245lbs. LOL).

245 five times is not bad for a defensive end. We cant all be Adam Carriker. We are also on some pretty good O-lineman. We even got a surprise visit from an allready commited elsewhere lineman. Im not worried 5 months before signing day. Still a LONG ways to go.

He said nothing about benching 245lbs. 5 times. His max (meaning the most he can lift one time) is 245lbs. which is awful. His squat isn't that bad meaning his has strong hips and legs.

For comparison, Tim Tebow benched 185lbs. over 35 times. You do the math.

When I was in my best shape, I benched 235 six times. I was 5' 9", 185 at the time.

Not that it's really great, but I'd expect a Div. I D-lineman to be a lot stronger.

Bench totals are determined by max weight that one can lift FIVE times. Not max on one lift. He is pretty quick for a defensive end and has good size and a nice frame. Im sure you could lift alot when you were in shape, but he is only 16 or 17 years old, 245 is not bad.

SiC, completely wrong.

Don't know where you have heard a max total is from 5 lifts, but a max is from ONE lift.

Doing 5 would be considered doing reps.

If you do not believe me, look it up or ask any weightlifter you may know. Very misinformed here.

BTW, Major Culbert (CB prospect from CA) is at a 285lbs. bench max, FWIW.
