Defense

I thought Banker was supposed to bring a pin your ears back and attack defense? I'm not seeing that. Is he being conservative because of all the injuries? The defense still seems slow, not in the speed sense but in reaction. The run defense has been pretty good. They gave up a few big ones today but not bad. In the pass game I'm wondering why they don't try to rush more(are they and I'm too dense to see it) if they are going to give up big passes with everyone in coverage what would it hurt to send someone after the quarterback. If I was an o coordinator I'd be running slants constantly as sometimes the dbs are 6 yards of the receiver. The defense has improved as this season has gone on though. The offense hasn't helped them much the last couple games.

Watching our cornerbacks is one of the most painful things to see. Nothing is going to fix them this season, at this point they are what they are. It's like they have no idea there's a ball in the game, I've never seen them look back and attack the ball. I'm not pinning this on the talent, this is entirely on the secondary coach and the plays Banker is calling. To add on, we will continue our "bad luck" as long as Banker is calling the defensive plays on the final drive. Seriously, did any of us actually think we'd stop Wisconsin? It's insanity to think this will get better this season, the defense is what it is. They can stop the run, but will give up big chunks through the air to anybody. Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Minnesota's quarterbacks throw for 300...which is just sad.
