They are going to pound the ball with Daniel Thomas tomorrow. I don't think a Nickel will work. When was the last time we played in a 4-3?? LA-Laff???

That sounds about right. I am actually excited to see a little more of our LB corps.

Is there any part of you that's kind of............nervous............about this?
Nope. We player 4-3 pretty dang well against Va Tech. I'm be more worried about there rush defense playing so well that we have to win by throwing the ball.

Need to watch out for Thomas throwing a half back pass. He was a QB at one time. He has a pretty good arm from what I remember.

Its not a great arm, but he can chuck up for grabs. It will be interesting to see Compton, Fischer and Dillard on the field together. Not sure it's happened more than a few times all year. Compton should be ready to fly around.

I'm a little nervous to see the 4-3. It's not what we have predominantly put ourselves in defensively this year because of the offenses we have faced, so the guys who will be starting don't have a whole heck of a lot of PT together. Hopefully our LB corp steps up and BP doesn't go red in the face getting on Ekeler's a$$ all game.

He's thrown a pass in two of their last four games. I'll almost guarantee we see at least one pass by him tomorrow.

There should be some level of concern, as 3 LB's have not been on the field together much this season. I think they can do a fine job, but the fact that we have relied upon Hagg and Gomes so much is cause for concern when you replace them with 2 redshirt freshmen who have much less game time this season. Hopefully they are both up to the challenge.

Even though we have not played much 4-3 this year, I think we have no choice. The Mild Cats seem pretty one dimensional and only seem to bring the run game to the table. Perhaps we see the 4-3 with an 8th man in the box, and make them beat us through the air?

Our overall speed drops with the 3 lb's out there obviously and I hate taking a Gomes or Hagg off the field, but you have to do it against KSU's offense. I think those two play with more confidence than the 4-3 replacements. Is it just me, or does Fisher look really slow?

just my opinion, i dont think youll see it (4-3) that much. carl and bo are both in love with their nickel and dime packages. there is no kerry meier type on kstates squad, so the tackling issues we saw from some of our db's last week, along with the certain emphasis placed on tackling by the coaches this week, should have hagge, gomes, dillard, and prince stepping up and making hits when they need to. ive been especially impressed with prince's ability in the run support, general laying of wood as of late.

No.

Maybe we start with the 4-3, but if it isn't getting the job done, I say go back to the nickel and have gomes come up and fill for run support.

as far as the HB Pass is concerned, if that's their most dangerous play, they are in a world of trouble. Against a running offense, we probably won't blitz much, and we'll have coverage back there for whatever crap they try to bring. All we have to do is be aggressive, flow to the ball like we have all season.

Offensively, it's the same plan as we had vs. KU. Smashmouth, over the top, maybe some zone read, and WCO stuff to keep them honest, I guess.

okie dokie. we shall see. i just cant help but think kstate is going to be helpless in the running game. i dont think theyll abandon it, but theyre gonna have to chuck the rock. and that little kick returning squirrel they have doesnt have the ability to go claim chunks of secondary like briscoe and meier could. d thomas is obviously better than what we saw from opurum, but he if does break into the second level, our nickel guys have too much speed too let him get far. i expect a difficult day for the statisticians, with how many red jerseys will be around every kstink ballcarrier.
