Dennis Dodd's post spring ball top 25

between winston leading his team to an mnc and the fact that 'bama usually does not demand much from their qb, it is not that radical.

Freshmen winning heismans and national titles isnt going to become the new standard, I would exoect some groeing pains for Bamas new QB. And they probably demand more out of the position than you think.

I would agree with this. Alabama's QB just doesn't hand the ball off. A.J. McCarron saved the day for them a few times over the last 3 years.

Personally I think McCarron is going to make some pro team a good QB. Whoever gets him will be stealing him.

At this point, I would give Bama the benefit of the doubt every time. Nobody is saying its the new standard, but Bama has shown year in and year out they can reload and develop every position. Also, sd'sker is exactly right, Bama is very good at not asking their QB's to do too much. It's why they are so damn successful.

I'd also reming you, back when Nebraska was dominating the college football world, they didn't just drop us off the map when we lost a QB or anyone else for that matter. We were expected to come back strong each year. Why? Because we recruited well, we had excellent coaching, and our system was proven to be successful. I'd say Bama meets each of those requirements.

Good running game, solid defense, great offensive line. Basics of winning football. The things all teams strive for. Makes the job easier for any QB. Thing is tough, Bama doesn't get just any QB's, they get good ones, and Saban and Co. know how to teach em.

Sorry, I just dont see AJ Mccaroron being so easily replaced. Dude played technically sound ball, made very little mistakes and handled pressure like a true veteran. I dont see a brand new guy coming in and replicating that, takes time. No doubt Saban reloads every year. Class rankings prove that. But again its not like replacing a 9volt in a clock.

Exactly how I feel, Alabama is very good and I would put them in the top 5 behind FSU, Oregon, OSU, and OU. All of those teams have returning starting QBs.

I was worried that we weren't gonna get another one of these polls released today! Let's have a completely separate and unique discussion about this poll compared to the 35 others. And go.

Doesn't Bama have FSU's number 2 QB coming in during the summer. The kid pushed Winston all the way through fall practice last year I think. Said it was their closest QB race in history. I can see him coming in and doing a great job, he obviously has talent. Kiffen will keep him in a win situation until his feet are wet. I am not saying number 1 but they are right there in the top 4 at the end of the year is my guess.
