The OL is also the reason we haven't been able to get a rushing game going all season long.
This point is arguable in the last few games, the running game only really works when your not playing catchup with the opponent. Being down by 3 TD's doesn't help us try and establish the run game.
Although there is no excuse for the Oline pass protection (or lack thereof) but when your playing from a deficit from the get go it will stifle the ability to run. I did see good passing/catching with the short game, but trying to go downfield was the problem. Saw Taylor holding onto that ball way to long a few times, especially with the knowledge that the Oline is weak. With this Oline they shouldn't be throwing deep balls, not sure if that was by call or Taylors choice but either way it should have been rectified once the game got close.
Can't say I agree - at least to the premise that the team can't run because it's behind. I would agree
if your point was that the deficit forces the team to the pass, but that didn't seem to be your premise, since your reply was to ######'s assertion that the reason we haven't been able to run this year is the offensive line.
With a deficit, the defenders are going to be looking for the pass. That should actually make it easier to run. Not as many in the box. The fact that we cannot gain yards running under those circumstances, if any thing, is an even greater indictment of the play of the offensive line. That should make it easier to rip off a few long gains. It is true that you can't run the majority of the time when behind - but when you do run from a deficit, you should have fewer defenders in the immediate vicinity of the line.
