I don't think we activley recruited him. We offered, but he never had interest/we backed off.
The way it works, from what I understand, is you gauge interst from a kid by verbally offering and talking to him. If he doesnt have interst, or there is something that coaches may not like (inflated height/weight, grades, your need at his position), then that basically shuts it down.

Yep. You put out a feeler with a player like this -- Seastrunk --- who was considered among the top 5-7 running backs nationally by essentially everyone (and the best by many) --- by offering and seeing what interest that generates. Seastrunk had dozens of offers, NU among them... but it never went anywhere. We never were in the running. And yes, in view of recent issues concerning him, perhaps that is OK.
