Wife surprised the hell out of me the other night and said we could probably look at getting a newer/bigger truck. Right now I have an 04 Dodge 1500 with the piss-ant 4.7L engine. That piece of crap hates towing or hauling anything heavier than a pillow but it looks good trying.
I've pretty much decided I want a 3/4 ton truck but I'm not sure I want a diesel or not. I know diesels typically are built to last for umpteen hundreds of thousands of miles but paying $1 more per gallon for fuel not too mention the $100 oil changes and changing the fuel filters out all the time isn't something I'm looking forward too. What are some of the pro's to owning a diesel? I've talked to a couple of guys I work with who own diesels and love them because of their towing power. One guy even said he's getting around 23mpg with his Chevy 2500HD diesel on the highway (cruise set around 65). In addition to the pro's, what are some of the con's besides the upkeep and fuel costs?
