Digital Cameras

Hey guys. I'm looking to purchase a digital camera as I'm expecting to be doing quite a bit of travelling in the next year or so. If any of you guys are familiar with the camera market and would be willing to point me in the right direction, here are my parameters.

1. Money. I'm not really looking to spend a ton of money. 100-150ish dollars is what I'm hoping for. Obviously there's a little wiggle room there, but not much.

2. Size. Nothing too bulky. If it could fit in a pocket that would be great. Something with an SD card would be nice.

3. I'm not any kind of photographer and I won't be posing as one. Mainly what I want is something that takes decent pictures. It doesn't have to make the front page of the New York Times.

I might end up picking one up soon, so any recommendations or advice would be great. If anyone has a preference on rechargeable vs. battery, let me know what's best.

NIKON coolpix is a good line of cameras in that range and you can often get package deals with them. There are several different kinds in the coolpix line, so you might want to go read some reviews.

I've have had a Sony Cybershot for a few years, and its worked well and was easy to use, and fell into the 150ish area when I bought it. I would say to think about a smartphone. Since I got my Driod, I don't touch the digicam anymore. The phone has a better camera actually. The camera has a 7.2 megapixel and the driod has 8.0 megapixel. Both had SD cards, but the phone has the ability to ship/upload the pix off the camera at anytime without the aid of a computer.
