Running back Jackson ready to get back into action

BY BRIAN ROSENTHAL / Lincoln Journal Star

If ever forced to miss, say, a Big 12 Conference championship game because of injury, Brandon Jackson may seek professional counseling.

That's based on Jackson's reaction to having to stand on the sidelines the last time his Nebraska teammates played a football game.

"I wanted to cry," Jackson said. "It was very emotional."

Nebraska's last game, by the way, was an intrasquad scrimmage.

"That's what makes me who I am," Jackson said. "I'm strong. I take hits. That's what I do. I'm the power back, and the power back takes hits. I like running people over, so I'm going to miss that."

"I will go all-out," he said. "If you worry about it, it's most likely you'll get hurt again. I will go all-out the first day I hit."

Umm, I don't know but I sure as hell hope he doesn't have to play fullback. He's a specimen, but come on he just isn't big enough. He'd have to be 240-260 to even think about taking on a blitzing linebacker. Also, I believe I read where he didn't get to play more last year because his blocking skills weren't up to par. If this is true, ZT or HB better hope we don't see him at fullback.
