Ditching a major cell phone provider. Have you done it?

So my wife and I have Verizon and we love Verizon because the coverage is reliable but we hate paying $205 a month for the 8GB plan and two iPhones.

I've been looking at other cell phone providers that will only cost us $70-$80 or less a month. A buddy of mine has Net10 who loves it and can use unlocked flagship phones with Net10 like the iPhone, Galaxy phones, Google Pixel, Nexus, etc but according to Net10 coverage in my area is that it'll use the AT&T towers and I believe AT&T's coverage in my area is a hit and miss but I could be wrong though.

Anyone else ditch the major carriers for a much affordable carrier that has great coverage? I'd like to find a carrier that I could use Verizon's towers and still be able to use unlock phones so I can still use the flagship phones.

Any suggestions on what to look at or what carrier you have would be greatly appreciated.

Where do you live, roughly?

We live in Omaha - I have Verizon and my fiancée has AT&T (we haven't combined plans yet). Her coverage sucks.

Do you have metro pcs in Sioux City? I have Verizon as well but I've heard metro pcs is decent. Nothing is going to quite stack up to Verizon as far as coverage goes so keep that in mind.

Straight Talk. $45/mo for unlimited everything and you can generally transfer your number or plan over to any phone. I lived in Sioux City a couple years and had great service with Straight Talk. I believe they also feed off of Verizon towers

Best solution: Throw away all cell phones. Back to land lines. It's okay using 911 emergency cell phone. And storage ...... car glove box
