Do they really hate NU

This is a tainted point of view because i love my cornhuskers, but seriously do the ABC/ESPN producers hate the University of Nebraska.

First off i was watching the Wake Forest game and one of the announcers Andre Ware was so biased against NU that he wasnt even trying to hide it. On the interception by Eisenhart at the end of the game that was over turned and the last play that Grixby bumped the WR, Ware like out on both plays and went out of his way to say both calls should go against NU. Then the next week i was watching a game before the USC/NU game and Ware was announcing it and he was asked if NU was going to win, and he said oh no they dont have a chance, USC will run away with this (he was right) but still.

Then the Nevada game was taken off the air in parts of Nebraska, i was in Chadron and this took that game off for some other game that the outcome was in doubt.

After the Iowa State game i was hoping i could see a highlight or two of Nebraska's game and i watched ESPN news and College Football Scoreboard on ESPN2 all day and not once did i see one single highlight, or even talk about of score on air.

Then after the Okie State game i turn on ESPN and Nebraska's game is the top story not only did they show highlights like every thirty minutes , they even showed BC's post game press conference. Now i know that NU losing to OK. St. is a much biggert story than NU beating I. St. but they could have atleast given us one highlight for the I. State game.

And now that we suck and everyone pretty much knows we are going to get crushed by Texas they show over half the nation this game. Its like they are trying to get recruits to watch this game so they know we are bad. The entire State of Minnesota and almost the entire state of Michigan is going to have to watch NU/UT when MU and UM are playing at the same time.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm not trying to argue...just giving some opposing thoughts.

Sometimes I wonder if there was a rift between Mark May & Trev Alberts, which might affect May's comments.

But, a network-wide conspiracy against Nebraska is a little hard to believe

I think he was giving his opinion of the plays as he saw them, not going "out of his way" because a hatred for Nebraska or being directed to say something against Nebraska.

Personally, I wasn't so sure that interception should've been overturned.

Being on the road, the play by Grixby...I actually surprised, more like relieved, that didn't draw a flag.

A lot of 'experts' on CBS, NBC, and newspapers didn't give Nebraska a chance.

It does seem strange that would happen in a Nebraska town. The Missouri-Texas Tech game was removed too....it happens. I don't think out of hatred for a particular team

Probably shouldn't come as big shock.

The game wasn't on TV and really, on a day of upsets, the NU-ISU game probably isn't going to generate much national interest. The game score was on the scroll at the bottom of the screen.

The loss to OSU was on TV, so highlights were readily available.

The WAY Nebraska lost, made this national news.

I have 3 TV's set up in my basement. At halftime of the SEC game, it was a big story on CBS.

Personally, if I were a Wolverine or Gopher fan...I'd be pissed.

Can you imagine if televised Nebraska game WASN'T shown in Nebraska?!

I guess my question would be...are the "Gophers" and "Wolverines" being forced to watch Nebraska and Texas because ABC/ESPN hates Nebraska? Of course not.

Well, the national media has behaved this way towards NU since the mid-70s, as far as I can remember.

You have to remember that the rest of the nation perceives us to be overall-wearing rubes - pretty much what Herbie was until the late 90s. They really, honestly believe that a substantial portion of our population looks like that, and that we're all farmers, that we're all ill-educated, and that we basically have little or no understanding of football aside from the run.

It's far, far easier to stereotype us as morons. That way they don't have to spare precious time to actually look into who we are and how we live our lives. Instead of pointing out that Omaha has more millionaires per capita than any other city in America, they make mention of the fact that you can't find a "$50 haircut in Lincoln" (as if that's a bad thing). Instead of talking about the science (extremely sophisticated science, mind you) behind the growing of modern seed crops, they stick some "roving reporter" in a cornfield and talk about the weather. Instead of talking about the fact that the University of Nebraska leads all other universities in Academic All-Americans (by a laughably huge margin) they talk about the "corn-fed linemen,” because that fits into their perception of us as overweight idiots.

Stereotypes are an unfortunate fact of life. We all do it to some extent, and whether we like it or not, we’re stuck with others’ stereotypes of us. You just have to ignore it as much as you can, I guess.

 
LOL, and Larry the Cable Guy hasn't really helped change our image has he? But, he's funny as Hell so who cares? There are definitely stereotypes of Nebraska, but I'll take those any day over like let's say Arkansas.
