HUSKER 37

All-American
With apologies to ninersgirl..

THe last few Thanksgivings, I've made these (more or less) and thought I'd better write it down before I forget how I did it.

Turkey road kill cookies recipe

Take one Turkey carcass..Might want to use less than all of the skin, I heard somewhere that some birds wear some sort of lotion to make their front sides more tender and enough quantities "may" give your dog the squirts..Not much of a problem unless I notice them getting a little moldy and give the whole remaining batch to my Husky.

I then put the carcass into a crock pot for a couple days (less if you don't have bones (Takes a few days of cooking for them to become crumbly).

On the last day of crocking, I usually add carrot "dust" remaining from juicing 3-5 lbs of carrots..If your dog has trouble reading fine print, you might want to add some of the carrot juice to your batter just before baking.

The carrot dust is an excellent source of "Ruff"age and will counteract a lot of the turkey squeezins causing cholesterol problems if you choose to sample them for yourself.

(Dogs metabolisms laugh at cholesterol).

So far, the "dough" looks like it's already been passed through once or twice, so it's a little fun to get the kids involved in a "Fear Factor" kind of way, but this is a good time to add a few vitamins or herbs (I've got a friend at the dog park who swears by garlic).

Then I add enough flour to make it more dough like (usually ending up with double what I started up with)

Roll it out and get some cookie cutters (preferably in the shape of cats and NOT mailmen) and cook like gingerbread men.

The 1st time I tried this, I was just trying to be conservative after watching a special on Plains Indians using every part of the Buffalo...But My Siberian Husky almost took my hand off (She never bit me before without a good reason).

I've had them in the oven @350deg for about a half hour now and they're starting to smell pretty good...Our cats are even starting to rub against my leg..Usually they tend to avoid me...

I'm even starting to drool.

I will try these for my Grand Puppies; Champion Jack Daniels of Grange Ave. and Little Miss Daisey.

Thanks.
