Douglas County (Omaha) Public Records

Anyone have a link where I can search for public records in Douglas County (Omaha)? My family is trying to determine exactly when my grandparents were married and since my Grandmother died a year ago, she can't answer the question. I have an Ancestry.com membership but nothing is showing up at all. We're hoping we can track down a marriage certificate/registry or some record showing when they were married.

You might try the Omaha Public Library in your area, or if there is one near where they got married, they might know where to get the information. Were they married in a Church or a justice of the peace? I am just wondering if you are looking for a copy of the Marriage Liscense, or if they were married by a justice of the peace. I am racking my brain for in

Unfortunately most of Douglas County's records are not available on line. You would need to go down to the courthouse and ask for the info there.

That's what I'm finding out. But this was all for naught. My mom talked to my grandfather and found out they were married in Iowa because he wasn't old enough to marry in Nebraska. The question came up about when exactly they married because my mom came across some letters from my g-father to my g-mother talking about "when they get married" etc that were dated after they were supposedly married. Come to find out, they were married but my g-father wrote them in such a manner to throw off my great-grandparents because they would not have approved of the marriage.

It would be a matter of knowing which county is all. With a name they can track down the records. And having a general window helps too. And Ancestry might be worth another shot with the new state info.

I've been working on trying to find it. I've come across some other documents from my dads side that no one on his side of the family have seen. Hopefully I can come across the same for my mom's side
