Looks like the D is down to 4 Blackshirts: Gerry, Mitchell, Rose and Kalu.....

On the injury front and unsure of their status for Friday we have:

Gregory-Sickness

Moore- in a boot

Bell-head injury

Pelini-golf cart and a boot

Sterup

Unsure why 4 DB's have kept their shirts.....

Injuries could hurt. Already then OL gets thinner. Beck says their DL plays very well. Great hands and quick......

Friday should be very interesting.

Which means what to who?

I say never judge a man by the clothes he wears.

Used to mean quite a bit to quite a few. Probably does still mean a lot to quite a few. I know I'd like to see it brought back to what it once was.

Just because things are rough doesn't mean we have to just crap all over all our traditions folks.

Enough people are trying to tell this program that it can't be what it's been in the past. Nobodies asking for a dynasty anyway. That insinuation is worn out.

We're asking for some pride, some good football, a bit of self respect. Act like you've been there, don't act like a yelling screaming child, and stop getting blown out in record setting fashion. That's hardly dynasty-worthy, that's reasonable expectations. The Blackshirts playing good defense and having some pride when they wear that jersey is also a reasonable expectation.

I just hope whoever takes up the mantle next returns to just handing them out to the starters at the beginning of the year and is done with it.

Good god two blackshirts don't even start.

Bo managed to desecrate this tradition worse than Callahan and Cosgrove.

Gregory: Would be very missed

Pelini: Reeves is an upgrade

Sterup: Givens Price is an upgrade

Bell: Would be missed

Moore: Depth would be missed

I recall that there was once a coaching staff and athletic director that tried to change tradition at Nebraska... Since the name is forbidden to be spoken on HB I will not say who, but I think you all know who I am talking about.

Unreal and just sad how the blackshirt tradition is nothing more than just a title with no meaning behind that practice jersey. There really need to be ex-blackshirts on the staff, not necessarily as a D Coordinator, but someone who respects the tradition and educates these players on what it means to earn that blackshirt.

When the Blackshirts are commonly referred to as the "pinkshirts" you know that the tradition has died and is now nothing but a punchline. Sad days are ahead of us for us fans if this coaching staff remains intact for the next season and beyond.

Tradition means a lot to every school, some people may think differently but if you engrave the symbol into players brains of what is behind our traditions to the players in-state and players from across the country they will have a respect for that practice jersey and will then "run through a brick wall" come game day to keep that jersey.

I'm not sure if desecration is a strong enough phrase. He literally annihilated a tradition to the point of apathy from the fans. It's sad, really.
