Dylan Raiola

Two major things in my opinion that greatly skew fans' perspectives of how this season went (that I don't think anybody is talking about):
  1. With an actual defense, we beat Michigan, all other things being equal. Dylan threw for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns.
  2. The Minnesota game was almost entirely on Holgorsen (IMO); the game plan to not lean on Emmett was insane and was the root of our terrible offensive performance.
Winning those two games, everybody's perspective of Raiola would be totally different. We really should have 9 wins right now and not 7.

When I look at Dylan's performance in that Michigan game, I just don't know how anybody can have the take that "he can't excel here and we can't excel with him, either."
Excellent points

I don’t disagree with you about Hummer, but local radio show thought that bc it was Hummer and not Thammel it actually holds as much if not more water. Said Hummer’s source is probably the DR camp bc Thammel is in touch on the UNL side. All 3 hosts unanimously agreed that they feel there is less than a 30% chance DR returns.

The Top 15 QB prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft includes plenty of underclassmen and guys playing for losing programs including Arkansas and South Carolina. Dylan Raiola isn't on the list. Sometimes Dylan cracked the Top 20 QB watch during the season, but he typically fell below the QBs at KU, UConn, South Florida, Duke, Illinois, and the Cincinatti team he beat.

Dylan got plenty of attention playing for Nebraska, even moreso with his Mahomes connection, and Nebraska's 7-4 season is no worse and often better than teams with QBs trending higher on the QB rankings. To break out, Dylan would have to supplant a QB on a better team -- and better teams usually keep a pretty good QB pipeline. His stats at Nebraska are pretty damn solid.

Anything is possible, but I don't think the coaches and talent have been holding Dylan back. He's good, but he needs to get better, and I think he'd still be taking sacks with better offensive lines based on his ball-holding, decision making, and mobility. Scouts can tell if talented quarterbacks are being under-utilized or poorly supported (hence Taylen Green and LaNorris Sellers making the 2026 draft boards) and I don't think the scouts are sold on Raiola making the next tier.

Then again, I never ever imagined Jeff Sims would be raising eyebrows and winning games in 2025.

it was pretty obvious he was going to leave when his brother decomitted. they are a close family and 100% would have wanted to play here at least 1 season if dylan was going to be here.

Maybe yours

No, it doesn't change mine. Which was my point.

I explained how Raiola threw for 300 yards in a game against a team with the #15 total defense.

I get tired of this. We don’t have 9 wins.

You're having a conversation with yourself here. You deleted the next paragraph in the quote that drove home the point I was making, which is really lame. I'll chalk it up to poor reading comprehension from you.

The point I made was the assertion that we're not sitting at 7 wins right now because of Raiola. The thread is about him.

Is he raising eyebrows? I guess I haven't paid close attention.

In their win against Colorado I believe he was 11/24 passing with something like less than 30 yards - but maybe he's had some really good games earlier in the year?

Rushed for over 200 yards versus Iowa State for the win. Player of the week and set an AZU record. Hung is Jersey up.

He’s feast or famine.

The plays he runs or throws well he looks elite. The rest of the time he’s looks incompetent. He’s always been a liability at QB and he still is. If Leavitt isn’t hurt there’s no way he’s playing.

The angle with Dayton really gives me pause. That kid has been a life long Husker fan. I’m also a big fan of the Raiola’s however. Nothing to do with Dom being the former Center for my NFL team at all. Haha just kidding, it does, but hope I Dylan stays with us still. He’s the top guys until someone beats him outright, not because he was injured

Wouldn’t he “not be on the list” because he is not eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft being a true Sophomore?
