Early Top 25

Heisman Trophy Winner
15. Nebraska

Buzz: Offensive issues persist. What else is new? But the defense has all-conference-caliber players on all three levels (DT Jared Crick, LB Lavonte David and CB Alfonzo Dennard).

Im still trying to figure out why everybody has Nebraska ranked in their "early top 25 2011 edition." It was pretty apparent in the last part of the year that we have some major issues to take care, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Plus we lose some decent talent on defense with Prince, Gomes, Hagg, Allen all graduating. Granted our defense is gonna be pretty good next year even with those guys gone, but as the last 2 years have shown us, it can only take us so far.

Guessing many believe that the coaching staff will find the errors and correct them with spring and fall camps before the season. Lots of talent, just needs put together, plus some might think that the schedule is deceiving only by the "names of the teams" on it.

I can see this being a top 25 preseason team but not top 20. To many questions surround what the offense can do well, loss of the most dangerous kickers/punter in the country, and secondary losses. However I also see a lot of kids returning that may help on offense that palyed last year. I think the DLine is better next year. Allen hurts, but Ankrah or Williams will shine IMO. Chase Rome joins what could be the Big X's best interior DLine rotation. The LBs when healthy are a very formible bunch. Both safeties return as well as possibly the best DB in the country next fall. Ciante saw time, and me thinks CJ comes in and provides a serious boost to the team. I can see Corey Cooper filling in for either Gomes or Hagg and it isn't as if the secondary cupboard is bare, it's talented just a little green.

There are a lot of positives.

As far as LSU, I can see it. They lose 1 OT, 2 WRs and a RB who wasn't their best on offense. On defense they lose Patrick Peterson, Jai Eugene, a LB and a DT. They will be stout and it's not like talent doesn't go to Baton Rouge every first Wednesday in February. Along with Bama they will be the favorites of the SEC and probably the number one spot.

I think a lot of the early projections are based on the Big 10. NU hardly has ever played a Big 10 team, so if you look at the talent NU has and the success they have had minus the speed bumps (offense) some think NU might do quite well in the Big 10. Top to bottom it is pretty equal to the Big 12. Take Iowa and Wisconsin for example, 2 teams that have had success in the last couple years, but by no means were "great teams". Iowa can have great years, then fall, and bounce back and win 12 games. The competition is tough, but NU fits well.

You guys are amazing, by spring you will all have us in the MNC, Big Ten champions, Crick for Hypsman, Martinez runner up. You know that!! Take the sunshine and be happy. Hell you live in Nebraska, how sunny and warm can it be in January.

Just media ramblings to get people to read the paper/internet.

We will be a top 15-20 team next year I think. Martinez will be a year better, hopefully game planned to survive the season, we are supposed to have some great running backs coming, the Dline should be as good if not better(hopefully better run stopping), the Oline should be better, but we have been saying that for awhile.

I think it is fair, but who knows how right it is. Personally anything positive right now is good to hear!!!!
