East Stadium remodeling possible.

That's just the same kind of speculation that we banter about here. That blog doesn't mean anything as far as potential expansion. In fact, I'd almost wager his first paragraph is based on the conversations about East Stadium expansion we've had right here on HuskerBoard.

:yeah my goodness do we ever need football NOW. as much fun as it is to keep reading & re-reading the same things...eesh, what am i saying?...no, it's not. all in favor of 12-month football seeason, say I. I!

If the stadium did expand, Nebraska would own nearly all of the attendance records within a few seasons. Sounds good to me.

They're not. :)

While we often look around to see what Husker fans all over the web are discussing and then dig deeper, the article is based purely on Rob's own knowledge and opinion.

Citing sources would give that article more bite. Without a source, even a reference to a source, it's no more impactful than me voicing my opinion here. There's nothing wrong with that, but it makes the premise of this thread unintentionally deceiving.

I'd like to see expansion*, though, so if there's some meat to this rumor, I'm all ears. :thumbs

EDIT - * and an improvement to the sound system, which at this point is a disaster.

Sometimes, unfortunately, sources can't be revealed. However, neither Rob nor any of my staff is out to promote rumors and pass them off as fact. I understand natural skepticism, but we just provide some of the best information available because we simply want to give all Husker fans one of the best Internet experiences. :)

I am betting it is only talk...I just don't see them spending that money right now. They have too many other projects in the works at this time.

The sound system is terrible, but I'm more worried about this east stadium expansion. I don't mind another 10-15 thousand seats as long as it looks like good balance. Adding another section that could "rival" the west stadium skyboxes just seems like it would be a weird fit.

Traditional football stadiums have skyboxes on one side, and that's it. Not saying their is anything wrong with innovation, but two towering facilities on either side of the stadium would just seem odd imho.

Well, Memorial was originally supposed to be Ohio State's "Shoe". It's always been a hodgepodge. No point in stopping now. ;)
