East Stadium remodeling possible.

I like the idea of renovating the east stadium and adding on. A new sound system is a MUST have item, it's painful to listen to that sound system now. It just plain stinks right now........ <_<

YES! If you're sitting in south stadium, you're lucky to catch every other word. Put some speakers on every screen pleaseokthanks.

I too, would like to see the expansion/sound system upgrade. However regarding the author's concerns on the stadium's 3G coverage-and don't get me wrong here, I love my gadgets-but I just gotta say WAAAHHH! You're at the GAME BRO! Do you really need to utilize your mobile web apps at this second? You can catch the scores to other games on a few different screens thoughout the stadium.

I do know that they have studied the situation regarding the sound extensively and while the laws of physics are a pain, I believe they are going to do something to try to rectify the situation that is a little more concrete than what's been attempted I.E. moving the speakers around, etc.

That was a minor side issue, his biggest gripe was just the lack of service period, which is a valid point.

It's such a mundane issue, but he does say that it is not even a large concern.

You could actually kill two birds with one stone here. As of right now, you don't need your cell phone in the stadium for score updates because the scores are on the ribbon boards. If you need to make an emergency call, all you have to do is get a pass from the gate-keepers at the stadium so you can get back in, and then all you have to do is walk outside and make your call. Now, if somebody needs to get a hold of you, then they should be aware of the stadium police number so you can be paged over the P.A. system.

Not only could the new system let everybody hear the announcer, but emergency calls wouldn't be an issue because people would be able to hear their name if paged over the speakers.

Sounds interesting and I don't think "dueling sky-boxes or dual end-zone scoreboards" would be weird at all, it would add element. Heck, look how "crazy" Jerryville turned out to be, or other stadiums.

That being said.....

I haven't been to a Husker game since 2003 until this past year when I got to attend all of them (Hooray school)but our sound system flat out STINKS! My god, I remember it used to be MUCH louder than before. Or maybe that's because I was younger so everything seemed much louder, and when I used to go we had tickets in the North end zone then. I'm a student in the South end-zone this past year and you couldn't hear ANYTHING!

Tunnel Walk. Quiet. Kick off music. Quiet. PA announcer. Who?

I kept waiting after the Floria Atlantic, Arkansas State, games for the "there must be a glitch in the sound because there is NO WAY it is THIS quiet over here." But it was never fixed, as it never was attempted to being fixed.

The 09 Oklahoma game was the BEST atmosphere I have ever been to in Memorial Stadium, and I have been to some great ones. But it would have been even better, heck even the "smaller" games like Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State would have been much more of an environment, with louder music/sounds.

I know I'm a younger guy (23), and I know older people would complain about it being "too loud" but it is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY quiet over in the South end-zone. I know we can, at times, have a heck of a crowd (yes!) that can drown out the sound system, which is a GOOD thing and how it SHOULD be depending on the situation, but when the offense has the ball, or when the PA is trying to get us pumped up with caNUfeelit, or some other music, WE CAN'T HEAR IT on the South side. Please install speakers AROUND the stadium, improve the sound at the North end-zone if needed too. I think that should come first, before Cell phone towers and expansion of the East stadium, since that would cost a lot and we just got done renovating the North a few years ago. But hey, if we can do all that at once quickly, go right ahead! :horns2

If we have improved sound system and the fans STILL drown it out, then that means we are all doing our part for HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE! This is a good thing. But lets be real, it needs to be louder, it just adds that extra element.

honestly east stadium is the only real part left. it looks so much more awesome than the rest of the stadium although they did an alright job with the North. the West is almost an abomination. It looks like the Walmart rip-off of the original memorial stadium. IMO anyway.
