Emmett Johnson

Emmett has a great jump cut and juke moves and incredible determination upon contact.

But as the TV replays have showed repeatedly in this breakout season of his, he's also had some pretty good inside holes and lead blocking to work with. While I would love to blame the offensive line for everything, it doesn't add up. They're not the reason we're losing games and EJ isn't doing this all by himself.

Problem is, the next offensive line will have to do a lot more to make one of our average backs look like Emmet Johnson.

How much could he make next year in college vs NFL? That's the big question NIL brings now. Before that, it's a no brainer to toss your hat in the NFL as a RB if you have a draft chance. Now an NIL player might make as much as a bottom round draft pick.

At others positions maybe, not at RB. You've gotta get in the league if you want a chance at a second contract and the big money. Life expectancy of a RB is so short, can't risk more wear and tear in college if you have NFL dreams.

He needs to go.

And for easier work overall to boot.

I agree if he gets drafted high enough to play. Lower than that you're a ST player and hoping to stay relevant enough not to get cut.

The projected draft status makes a big difference.

There are a lot of kids now that have a better chance at pulling down more money in college than the NFL. I'd pay EJ more than DR. He has had a bigger impact on the games lately.

Money will obviously be a big talking point. NIL should all be guaranteed, not sure about nfl contracts.
Another key is getting insurance and all those things

That's not how the NFL works. Being drafted gets you to camp, whoever is the best in camp plays. Once you play, play well enough to keep your spot. Doesn't matter what round you're selected in, except for how long they're willing to keep you on the roster before cutting you. 5th/6th/7th rounders are starting for every team in the league right now.

Saw a SI article talking about this. On the initial draft contract he'd stand to make close to $2million as a rookie. Per the article RB's are not making that (2025) in NIL. Especially as he'd have one year of eligibility left. Smart bet, test the draft waters. Good feedback? Go.

I'd think with his running ability and receiving ability he'd be attractive to teams. Good balance, greta vision and hard to get a squared up hit on him. A lot of yards rushing and receiving. With an offensive line, for all intents and purpose, is much maligned for the inability to open holes. Maybe lacking "top end" speed, but good RB for sure.

I watch a lot of nfl due to fantasy football. There are few rb that his vision. I think he is gone.

if he could get 5 million dollars and be a heisman candidate that's pretty tempting. if you run a bad 40 at the combine you could fall to a late round and be lucky to make a million.

IMO when people vent about the OL it is mainly the pass game. They got a lot better run blocking as the year progressed and they jelled. When we have gone against any kind of pass rush and press coverage we just can’t give the QB enough time. Especially someone with the immobility of Dylan. OTs got put on skates against every single DL with a pulse.

Wonder what his 40 time would be tbh. His top gear is pretty slow but he has good burst and jump cut ability. He is quick before he hits the safety level and then he is extremely, extremely slow.
