ESPN College Game Day

I know we like to pretend that ESPN College Game Day is not that big of a deal but clearly it changed CFB. With Lee Corso retiring after week one this season it did get me thinking about what a huge deal the show became.

I can remember the first time they went on location. At ND taking on FSU. I was at a friends house and we were doing a school project. Watching Game Day was totally different, it changed the game for me. I ChatGPT'ed it just to see for sure and it looks like Game Day has been to Lincoln 7 times. I could MAYBE see them coming for the Michigan this year, maybe.

I was at the UCLA game and I remember going to the broadcast (and getting on TV! I recorded it and saw it later), But it really made CFB so much more exciting. I might have been at the 98 one as well but I don't even remember it (#Drinking)

I have seen the Big Noon thing in person once and it was okay, but it was not the same.

📅 Notable Lincoln Broadcasts:

  • 1994: Weekends featuring games against UCLA and Colorado (huskers.com).
  • 1998: The matchup between Nebraska and Washington (huskers.com).
  • 2001: Two shows — before games against Notre Dame and Oklahoma (huskers.com).
  • 2007: Home game versus USC (1011now.com).
  • 2019: Nebraska vs Ohio State in September (espnpressroom.com).

That adds up to the 7 total visits confirmed in ESPN’s records.

It's not a big deal to me because I haven't watched ESPN in probably over a decade now.

I didn't even know it was still on the air until I saw some viral Shane Gillis clips last year. Same with the ESPY awards this year. Just give him all the money.
