ESPN says, "Please use bots on our polls"

Like some others have said this is really a non-issue.

As a neutral fan without a horse in the race am I going to look at the results of the poll and say "Hur-dee-durr, I guess Paterno is without-question the best coach in B1G history"? No. I don't really have an opinion on it and the poll wouldn't change that or force me to form one.

...and what do the fans of these schools get if their coach wins? A trophy? Money for your AD? Some kind of official title? No, they get nothing.

This is just a way to create a little buzz, drive some discussion and get traffic, if allowing or encouraging bot voting increases that traffic (as this thread proves) then it is probably in EPSN's interests to continue on their current course.

TO is the better everything. He's my everything. He is the wind beneath my wings. Joe Paterno is dead. He has to answer to a higher power than the NCAA for his neglect. Great coach. I don't understand these polls. I don't understand why we care so much. I voted for TO because of who he is and what he did. I bet he starts recruiting faster voters out of Florida and California and comes back next near with a new philosophy. I also bet if he loses again next year, some people will want to fire him and go after the new hot coach of the moment.

BTW, I'm in absolute shock that Urban Meyer didn't win this.

Here's another thought process on this. If this really is a meaningful exercise, TO doesn't really belong in the discussion at all because he didn't coach in the Big Ten so how can he be the best coach in Big Ten History?

This is hilarious!!

I seem to recall a "poll" in which the "Huskers" won, but the results were retracted and the poll taken down.

The Huskers logged something like 18 million votes in one 6 hour period overnight, in that poll. Obviously the Husker internet mafia was out in force on that one. In fact, I think we won a ridiculous amount of polls just because some Husker nerd tech guys decided to rig them up.

I thought it very amusing when other teams fans cried foul about it.

And I find it just as amusing that any Husker fans would now cry foul about this.

Like most everyone else so far, I think these polls are a complete waste of time. In terms of entertainment value, I can think of many things I'd rather be doing with my time. Like posting here. Or cleaning toilets.
