Have you ever wondered to yourself..."Self what the hell is a pistol formation? And "Did Nebraska run the triple, the veer, or the flex bone type of option?" If so, you're not alone. I put together this little handy dandy guide to help you out. Just click on the different types of offensive formations, and it will inform you of what each specific one is and what it looks like on the field. I hope this helps you out! Maybe since offense seems to be the hot topic of the Huskers now, one of the Mods could sticky this thread so we all can really see what each offensive style brings to the table.

The Veer Formation

The Option (Tripple, Wishbone, Spread, Wing T)

The Pistol

The I Formation

The Shotgun

The Pro Set

The West Coast

Bookmarkin it haha.

I have books and books of offensive strategies, and love to find anything new to try and grasp these offensive systems better

this is a site i follow...not exactly in the same vein as what you posted but with lots of analysis and links to breakdowns that will take you a little deeper into the game than ESPN's top ten highlights. lots of in depth stuff on finer points of the game and why certain things happen- not too light, not too heavy-although following some of the links within the posts can quickly leave you scratching your head.

Smart Football

fair warning: dana holgorsen/justin blackmon lovefest on page 2 with video...lots of video showcasing amukamara being targeted and schooled.

SmartFootball was actually brought up before once and discussed in this excellent thread, I encourage everyone to re-read!

HuskerBoard: Strategic Trends For the Next Decade

Member brophog really provided some outstanding detail/insight that I think is worth revisiting. Another one of his posts, on the topic of run/pass balance, is also worth revisiting.

I think the main content of those is that it sort of breaks you out of the 'Scheme Name' or even 'Run Pass Ratio' way of looking at things, which is a convenient crutch to use in any discussion but sometimes handicaps us if we focus too much on it.

I think that would be a great complement/context for the Wikipedia info. Thanks, btw to Blackshirtsguru for the compilation!

I think the pistol would be a pretty good fit for us but i'm no offensive coordinator. Nevada runs it really well with a mobile QB.
