Fall Camp Position Battles - Offensive Line

I seem to recall a mention lately that the coaches are expecting to have solid 8 or 9 linemen that have legitimate skills and we should be able to find a solid bunch. From there, you find a couple more decent back ups to spell guys for a few snaps here and there for a month or so while more young'uns get more comfortable. We should be OK absent serious injuries. But we usually have to count on several during season so it could be touch and go at times.

I get the feeling they like the 7 guys listed above. After that, there are 2-3 more that are close but a step behind.

Things look good at that position but I'm sure things won't be great the first 2-3-4-5 ish games of the year. Toward the end of the year I expect them to be playing pretty well.

Dwayne Johnson didn't even make the fall camp roster for the second year in a row.

Kind of surprised he's even on the team at this point.

I noticed this last year in some practice pics - didn't ever pay enough attention during games but obviously they were doing it. I thought perhaps it was a shotgun thing but apparently not. Don't understand how that can work very well.

Gates... Farmer... Foster... are all from the 2014 recruiting class.

Gates and Farmer were 4 star recruits.

That was a good recruiting class for us for offensive lineman.

This appeared to be the depth chart at the scrimmage today:

LT - Gates, Gaylord, Farniok

LG - Foster, Barnett, Raridon/Hannon

C - Utter, Decker

RG - Farmer, Whitaker, Wilson/Brokop

RT - Knevel, Hahn
