Fall Camp

Four-Star Recruit
After watching the JV team get ran over by MGIII, I can't help but wonder what would've happened had our Fall Camp Woes not happened. Michael Rose was a beast at Mike, and might've actually *contained* Gordon. I won't go too deep into the defensive injury bug woes at safety, mostly because Gerry has been pretty good this season (until Saturday). And what if Adam Taylor hadn't broke his ankle? He was looking to be the second/third string back, and had made some serious jumps in Spring Camp. Hopefully, both will be starting next season, because the rest of the remaining guys at their positions just flat out looked lost on Saturday.

Jackson, Rose, Alexander.....All key pieces that would have made the D better or given depth. IMO, safeties would be alexander and Gerry now had he stayed healthy...

The injury excuse will be played as it was in 2012. IMO, that was worse. A undersized Cam at DT going against 320 lb behemoths was ridiculous. I'm glad he wasn't killed. Sadly some of the same comments, execution broke down, guys started doing their own thing etc.... That's what scares me.

I'd love to see a system that wasn't predicated on 1 man miscues the whole thing breaks. IMO, that's too complex. Impossible to expect from young kids. There are exceptions...SUH was a beast. David a crazy football IQ. Gomes, Haag, Prince were freaks...... I also think the loss of guys like Sanders, Carl and Ekeler hurt more than we realized then, but are seeing now.

Then I look at schools like Northern Illinois, Rutgers etc..that held Gordon to significantly less yards. Bo refused to drop the safeties in the box. We did absolutely nothing to counter Gordon. That's all we had to do. We could have watched our own game film against McNeese St or MSU to see how to do that. Those teams shut AA down. IMO, a better "pure" runner than Gordon. We got schooled again. Different coach, same results.......Bo refuses to implement anything to counter a team that runs.

IF he stays and that's a 50/50 IMO, NU needs to give him the Solich option. Fire your guys or hit the road. We have the talent, amenities and money to get great guys in as DC/OC. No doubt in my mind. Prior to Sat, I was impressed with BO this year. The D looked solid. He took over ST's and we lead the nation in PR. When Bo wants to, Bo excels. I have no clue why he can't do something with this D against the run. Beck also calls some hurry up crap we can't execute and has our O go 3 and out time and time again against Wisky. To "HELP" our D who had been chasing Gordon over a 1/4 of a mile for 2 quarters. Think about VV all 300 + lbs getting leaned on by 1-2 300+ lb guys and then having to sprint after Gordon. Or our LB's getting hit at the second level by the same 300+ lb and trying to get off that block and give chase. Beck and his typical crap play calling also hurt the D. Not to mention Bo's continued refusal to drop a safety in the box or even go to a nickel to slow them up and get speed. Hell a 3-4 look to get more speed on the field. Anything at all besides yell at the guys coming off and going in. Forget the game last year, but I remember Bo tutoring guys on the sidelines. Drawing up his instructions. I liked that Bo. Kids were learning and adjusting on the fly. This year, no time for that. Bo was pi$$ed (rightfully so) and Beck was letting the D rest for like 30 seconds with his BS play calling.

Ole Miss sent their staff to Seattle to study the Seahawks D. TO and FSU traded ideas. What has Bo done? Belichek came here a year or 2 ago and spoke about the TE. Praised Kyler Reed. I thought, hell yea. Finally some TE play and info from the guru of making stuff happen (Belichek). That never came to pass. Again, the stubbornness of this staff. The "I know more" or I haven't forgot how to defend the run" etc....

Every team gets injuries. Gurley goes down and his developed back up goes for 200 yards. Clement at Wisky could have put up 2oo on us as well. Miller goes down and Barret steps up like a baller after a shaky start. Of course Urban changed things up to play to his strengths and help him out.........That's injuries to key guys, who did start, not projected starters...... Look what happened when our starting receivers were all slowed......Or Carter at TE went down.....Or a one legged AA (see one legged Martinez) Injuries happen. Other teams are aware of this and get guys ready accordingly. NU, like pro roster really doesn't. The 1's play the whole game. They lose their job by graduation or injury. Not a way to get depth or really recruit. Not bashing TA (glaring example), he was completely ineffective against Wisky. No change in QB. Even to let Ganz (another WTH does he do) try and calm him or help him. If a smart young kid who plays QB, watched Martinez and now TA they might wonder WTH do I have to do to bump this guy. With our track record nothing.....It's hard. Martinez over Lee was an anomaly (also Lee ticked off the stay Rumors)

Bo is lost. His answers show that. He's not a big picture guy. He has no idea how the game got flipped. He needs a STRONG DC/OC to help if he stays.....If he keeps his guys, we are worse off than I thought as it shows the AD enjoys the mediocrity....

Micheal Rose would have read his key, filled his gap and forced the running back to the next defender. At that point our safety would have made or not made the play. Apparently that was our plan Saturday.

The only difference those injuries would've made is it might have taken Gordon to the middle of the 4th quarter to break the record instead of by the 3rd. Injury excuse can not be used

There was a reason Gerry was not slated to start the season at safety. Leroy is a much better safety. Gerry is a solid safety that will be pretty darn good by the time he leaves here but Leroy can at least lay a hand on Gordon in space. Heck he tackled Gurley in space. Gerry looked like he was defending a fastbreak in basketball when he was trying to tackle I'm space

Gerry played 10x's the game Cooper did. If all 3 were healthy and the best two play it would be Gerry and Leroy....and I owe an apology to Mavric on this one, he had been saying this all off season and I gave him some hell a couple times. Cooper is taking Stafford like angles this year after being dominate last.

Just stating a fact that Leroy and coop would have been starters if it wasnt for the suspension. Gerry didn't play 10x better than cooper. They both played poorly. Gerry had some poor fits in the run game as did all of our second and third level defenders.

Melvin is a special player he would have went for 300 on lsu if he wouldn't have sat the second half (150 in first half) . He is the beat running back I have seen play college football since Barry Sanders.
