I got some sad and very distressing news tonight. I have a friend who has a son who is a sophmore in college. I know the young man, as he is a friend of a neighbor of mine and we have run into each other on several occasions. He's a good kid and is basically no different than many us were when we were his age.

Here is when this story turns to sh#t (sorry MODS is the only word that works).

I don't know all the details yet, as I just heard a couple of hours ago, but it seems that last night his girlfriend dumped him, he got drunk, drove, got pulled over, assulted the police officer and is now in jail facing charges of; attempted murder, DUI, and assulting a police officer.

His family is devistated. They are middle class, he has a $1,000,000. bond, so needless to say, he's in the slam until this thing is settled.

All I want to say is, YOU GUYS, PLEASE, BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!! You have a job that is, under-appreciated, under paid, tougher than tough, needed, and I can't tell you how much T_O_B thinks of you.

Be wise beyond wise. Be rigid and stern yet compassionate. More than anything, be safe.

Well that's too bad to hear that he decided to do something like that. Liquid courage has gotten so many people in trouble in the past it's not even funny. Is the attempted murder charge for his assault on the police officer or what? I notice he has a seperate charge for assaulting the police officer?

 
The attempted murder was for the assult. I found the news report and evidently they were traveling in different directions, the officer pulled into the median, the kid did to and evidently collided with the patrol car. Thank God no one was hurt.
