Former Alabama FB transferring to NU

Per Nebraska's twitter, former Bama fullback Mike Marrow will be transferring to Nebraska and will be eligible to play immediately. Mike is the son of NU GA and former NFL tight end Vince Marrow. He is a BIG back listed at 6'2" 240 lbs and can play both LB, RB, and FB. He is going to provide a big body for NU this fall as a much needed big body back or a much needed big LB.

I was hoping he'd be able to come in and not sit out.. glad to see that worked out for us...

I'll be very interested to see if we see him take over D-Tray's role as the bruiser back (that Okafor should also compete to become).. or if he moves over to D to play Mike.

good deal I was kind of worried about this. But, I guess without really knowing what we are doing on Offense for sure we don't how he would be used unless he play D which could be a good thing as well

it will be interesting to see where he ends up. my money's on a FB/big back (remember that beck was at KU when mcanderson was smashing through offenses from a spread attack), but it certainly is intriguing to think of that kind of athlete playing MLB for us.

Yes another Dillard perhaps? Or even better that would be nice. Although I see your point on offense as well. Either way it can't the competition.

Why doesn't he have to sit a year?
Makes no sense to me either.
Well he hasn't played a down in college yet. He redshirted at bama, stayed 2 games through his redshift freshman year but didn't play and transferred to Eastern Michigan University 2 games in to his Redshirt freshman year... He sat out all year there due to transfer rules. The reason he transferred was because he had numerous deaths in the family and wanted to be closer to home. But with his dad now in Nebraska he is going to follow him here, as they are extremely close. My understanding is that he will be here early summer, and has applied for a Hardship due to his family situation that is going to allow him to play immediately and not sit out a 3rd year.

Thus he will have 3 years to play.

I think him sitting out the last year is the important piece. He never played for EMU while sitting out, so that would make some sense why he doesn't have to sit out again.
