Former Blackshirts rumor

I received an email from a friend that said he heard there were several former Blackshirts that met with pud yesterday for an hour. Is there any truth to this or is it just that rumor. About the only news i get on the Huskers is from here on Husker board and emails from my buddies. I would like to think that a meeting like that took place but who knows what good it would do.

 
I knew the 97 team was going to be in town this week, I would love to have been a fly on the wall to hear what was said if it is true.

Yeah that would be awesome!!! I hope that's true because someone needs to get the damn point across that these guys are Nebraska! Without them and all the players from the past the University of Nebraska would have no tradition. Allow these guys to get involved a little more if they want to for gods sake because they left their blood, sweat, and tears on that field.

 
Yeah, the 10 yr reunion for the national championship team is/was in town. They're meeting with PUD for that reason. But i'm sure they'll be talking about the current state of the team also.

Would be nice to hear a roundtable discussion with some of the 97 blackshirts.

 
nothing will come of this talk between the former players and peterson. peterson will start praising them on how good they were back then and how we are trying to get back to this level. peterson is very astute, will control the conversation, and then there will be some sort of press release stating how constructive it was. abolsutely nothing would come out of this meeting. the only people that can effect change right now are the board of regents, and they have more important things to concern themselves with, e.g. running a larger university.

Are they going to be doing a similar celebration like what they did 2 years ago with the 95 team? I've got a piece of memorabilia that I would love to have signed. I was able to get Frost, Osborne, and Davison to sign it, but I need to get Peter, Wistrom and Green's. It's a unique, one-of-a kind piece.

Yes. That's all it is. Because god knows that Pederson doesn't want the current program to have any contact with former coaches/players.
