Stomp the Black0ut..

Wear red to the UT game. Don't wear black, not everyone will be in black so it will not look good, some red and some black. We need to get it full of all red to drown out the burnt orange.

OK I have just about had it with this non-stop complaining about the b******* for the UT game. What is so wrong with it? For one game this year some people have decided to unite and have everyone wear black to the game.I think it's a great idea. If you and everyone who says wear red blah blah blah...then call Coach Leach and the AD and tell them that Tech should quit wearing any black unis from here on out.
Tech wore all black unis all season back in the early 2000's. In the 90's they wore black jeresys. So to everyone against the b******* quit your complaining wear a black shirt to the game, I bet the players wear black for thr UT game. OK i'm done wear black and have fun! Beat Kansas and UT!!!

I hate the idea of copying other schools. >cough cough...OSU< b*******'s a bad idea. RRO is only promoting the idea to make a buck, can't blame them, but it's someone elses tradition. Make 'em see red or black. As long as it's not burnt orange, I don't care!

If this game is going to be a b*******, quit complaining and wear a black shirt. If you want red too, wear red pants; I don't care. A red bandana would be appropriate too.
I keep hearing "we are the RED raiders!"
Well no ****. Our colors however, are RED and BLACK, and we are really the Matadors. So arguements can be made all sorts of ways for what is really "correct".
I say get a black jolly rogers shirt and iron a Double T onto the back of it and call it a Pirate Out shirt. Get some of those foam swords they sell now and swing them like a madman!

Interestingly, Texas Tech was almost nicknamed the Dogies, as suggested by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. But the first athletic teams became known as the Matadors, instead, thanks to the head coach's wife. Mrs. Ewing Young Freeland preferred Matadors because of the Spanish architectural influence on campus. The college colors of scarlet and black and team name of Matadors were adopted by students on March 15, 1926, during a convocation. The teams remained as Matadors until 1936 when Red Raiders was adopted. The name-change from Matadors to Red Raiders came from Lubbock Avalanche-Journal sports writer Collier Parris, reflecting on their red uniforms and a strong season. Covering a football game in 1932, he wrote: "The Red Raiders from Texas Tech, terror of the Southwest this year, swooped in the New Mexico University camp today." The name caught on and by 1936, the Matadors had faded into history, replaced by the Red Raiders.

I swear, some of you people could b*tch about anything. You are so messed up in the head that you can't get behind a thing as simple as a black out (which is meant to improve the atmosphere of the game and to get behind the team) that you take it upon yourself to try to screw it up.
We are Scarlet and Black. A black out is one of our primary colors. It will probably be a cold game anyway, so just wear a black jacket or coat and you can still wear your red shirt.

I also don't understand why so many people on here are getting upset about being asked to wear their schools secondary color instead of their primary.
The team is going to be wearing black, the coaches will be wearing black. For the love of God people wear black. It isn't that hard and the reasons people are choosing to complain about it are really really lame.

I will be wearing the same red shirt I have worn for every game this year unless we drop the Kansas game. Then I will be forced to find another lucky shirt.

it's only about money from a t-shirt company - no one really cares about a "b*******" - everyone will wear what ever they want - I have yet to see more than 10 or 20 of the "gameday" shirts in the stands in the first place.
Want to be orig? Like some one else said do a bare out - everyone go topless - sell tons of Double T stickers for the women folk to cover the areola

The school song still ends with "Long live the Matadors!"
The point is, we were the matadors first, and Red Raiders second. If Mike Leach stays here for another ten years we could end up being the Pirates of Texas Tech.
Disputing this has nothing to do with our colors though. One of which is Red, the other Black.
