LinkDespite taking over an 0-12 program, Scott Frost signed the third-ranked recruiting class in the AAC in February, and as summer recruiting continues this summer, Frost is selling something most of the top colleges in Florida don’t: tempo.
FAU was the only Florida college in the top 50 in plays last season. While other local schools have traditional attacks, especially the Power 5 schools, Frost comes from Oregon. Florida high school players are known for speed, right? That’s Frost’s pitch.
“Most of the high schools in Florida are playing spread up-tempo style now,” Frost said on ESPN’s Championship Drive podcast. “We’re really the only one doing it, as far as the major colleges in Florida. Our system is going to be a great fit for a lot of the athletes in Florida. Those kids are going to be more familiar with the type of offense we play than any other. It’s helping us and giving us a boost in recruiting already, and we’re looking forward to getting some really talented kids in our program.”
